ABANDONED. The Silver Daggers are assassins... fantasy book circa 1990...

I was reading this book as a youngster, probably in my pre-teen years circa 1990 to 1995 and my parents thought it was not age appropriate and asked me to stop reading it. I do not remember any of the story other than that it is about a member of the Silver Daggers, a group of highly trained mercenaries/assassins. I remember liking it and wanting to finish it someday but now I have no clue as to the title or the author!

Katharine Kerr's Deverry series has mercenaries who carry a silver dagger. It includes Dawnspell, Dragonspell, A Time of Omens. Rodri is a main character, in various incarnations.

David Duncan has a series called the King's Blades. The first one is The Gilded Chain. He has another series about younger males in the same world frame: Sir Stalwart.
Perhaps one of these?

It must be the Deverry series. Every time I search that's one of the only consistent results, but it just doesn't sound familiar. I'll have to pick up the first book and dive in to see if the bells start going off. Thanks!
