Answer to 1st Question: YES YOU SHOULD. THEY WERE AWESOME. ALSO, don't bother with the movies: they sucked.

Answer to 2nd Question: A sequel series. It's awesome. And full of ships. Ships.

I agree the movies stray from the story plot. A lot. And someone also made me read the book but I warmed up to it and now it's one of my favorite series. It's totally worth it.

I fully recommend trying this book again. I have a soft spot for greek legends which is how it charmed its way in to my heart but I thought the story was a great look at YA friendship. If you do go back and read the first one again, stick with it. Maybe take a break between the books, don't necessarily read them straight after each other. If you end up enjoying the first one, and end up coming back to read the rest, you will absolutely love the friendship. I think that RR really portrayed this young friendship in a fantastic way. There was many a moment when I wished that I went to Camp Half Blood. I was on Etsy trying to find Camp Half Blood tshirts and I'm creeping slowly towards 30!

Yes! you definitley should. The series goes increasing in intensity, every book is better than the last one. All the books are awesome but the lightning thief is the least awesome, because it is the first book in the series is very introductory and sometimes confusing. But once you get along with the world you start enjoying it so much and the pages start going so fast.
