I keep seeing Dan Simmons being recommended in blogs and groups, especially the two I have listed below. Out of these two, which would you recommend to me:

The Hyperion Omnibus or Ilium/Olympus?

Since I didn't care for Ilium/Olympos, I recommend the Omnibus. At the time I read those I was taken by Hyperion's riff on the Canterbury Tales motif and the basic challenge confronting the protags. The imagination and imagery are truly extraordinary; the execution as good as it gets.
