I loooove YA and romance but only when it’s a one stand. My favorite topic is time travel (y’all should read the Ruby Red trilogy, it’s a m a z i n g ), fantasy intertwined with the real world (kinda Shadowhunters) AND Greek mythology. I can’t stand biographies, idk why, and also enjoy astrophysics, mostly Stephen Hawking because he explains everything so good.
I’ve read many comments are from 9 months ago but Althea (tysm) has just added me and I couldn’t be more happy about it, I’m so excited to meet all of you❤️
hi! my name is alyssa, nicknamed guava. i live in the US and end up reading a ton in the summer to compensate for a busy school year. i used to have a giant paper book list but it's much more convenient to have it online and accessible at all times. i enjoy basically all genres but especially lean towards thrillers and fantasy!
in my free time, i do some creative writing and i enjoy journaling! i also love spending time outside doing almost anything. i hope to get to know you all soon :))

I'm in Quebec, Canada so yes I'm perfectly bilingual in French and English. I enjoy many genres though I gravitate towards dystopian and thrillers. I enjoy original and outside of the box stories. I realize there's a formula in everything (songs have two verses then a type of intermezzo before wrapping up with a chorus) but I can't stand the formulaic books. Surprise me and bring me out of my comfort zone and I'm yours (applicable in all aspects of my life lol).
I'm very easygoing and have a habit of playing devil's advocate in any discussion because I love seeing different point of views. I'm in a place right now where I seek the company if like minded individuals so feel free to chat me up about anything and everything.
That's all I have to share right now.... thanks for listening.

I got into reading around sophomore year of HS when I read Harry Potter. I really got into fantasy YA with the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas, one of my all-time favorite authors. I actually just finished the last book in the series a few nights ago and, yes, there is an empty void inside of my now. Though fantasy YA is my favorite genre, I tend to like any well-written book with an exciting plot and interesting characters.
Aside from my reading habits, I am a 20-year-old (aries btw) college student with an obsession for stories--which is why I chose Media Production and Creative writing as my majors. I hope to be a published author one day, as well as a producer and director of my own film/TV show. I tend to have my head in the stars, but I try to keep realistic sometimes.
I am loud, yet introverted. I don't open up very easily--its a weird, gradual process. My one friend once looked at me inquisitively and said, "You're kinda weird. It's like, the longer I know you the weirder you get." I don't even remember what I did to prompt that and I don't really want to. I just know it was in our kitchen.
I love learning things, creating things, and discovering things. Magic and witch culture intrigue me (tarot, astrology, etc.). Adventure is my #1 goal. I tend to fight a lot about everything (not physically), because I like debating. My dog is a little shih-tzu named Sadie and I love her with all my heart.
And I ramble a lot, obviously.
Thanks for listening to my nonsense!

Hello, fellow booklovers! My name is Vincent and (at this date) I am also 17 years old. I started reading not too long ago so I am a slow reader.
My fav genre so far is contemporary, but I read everything I can get into my hands and that sounds decent.
I love challenges and buddy reads so I will be excited to join those.
Happy reading to you all. Maybe we see each other soon in a challenge :)
To all the new members: welcome to the group!! Feel free to check out some of our challenges, read-a-thon, buddy reads, and games. Or just drop by some of our chats. Either way welcome! Read on :)

We've talked to a lot of you already and y'all are awesome! Hope to talk and see the rest of you guys soon :D

My favorite series is probably Keeper of the Lost Cities, but Percy Jackson and the Olympian. I mostly read YA fiction, and while my favorite series are popular series, I enjoy reading more obscure things.

So far a few of my favorite books have been the Clockwork Angel, The Last Thing I Remember, and Being Mortal. If you have any suggestions of some of your favorites from different genres, that would appreciated. But that's a little snippet of me.

My fav genres are YA, fantasy, thriller and anything that has dragons in it 😂
My favourite book EVER, is probably Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
If you have any suggestions feel free to do so!
Can't wait to read more and get to know you all!

I'm totally new in this whole goodreads community chat rooms or groups.
When I was in high school I used to check this website to read quotes and motivational frases to get inspiration to write stories, but then University got in the way and I never came back until now. I'm finishing a master in Architectural Landscaping Design right now, finally having time to read! I have absolutely not experience reading a lot of books, but I feel like I'm starting in this world and I'm beyond excited.
Neither of my friends read or write so sometimes it gets pretty sad not having someone to share everything that you analyze or get from a book and I guess that's the main reason for me to join this group.
I'm very sorry for my english! I'm pretty excited find some good friends with the same interests here!

As for my reading, I am mainly into historical fiction, realistic fiction, non fiction, and biographies, but I am very open and like to venture out of my comfort zone.
Other than reading, I like art, baking, and pretty much any kind of outdoors activity.
Glad to be a part of this group and get to know some people who love reading as much as I do! :)

My name is also Kayla. I am 22 and I live in Maryland,USA. I enjoy any kind of book so long as it is interesting enough. I am joining the group to read more and socialize. I enjoy hiking, camping, really anything outdoors. I am a volunteer EMT and I am studying to be a nurse.
Looking forward to reading with you guys!

I just joined this group.
My problem is that school keeps me very busy and always makes my exhausted. So I rarely find the motivation to start a book-series or continue reading them.

I have an amazing local library so I normally get most of my reads from there. I'm always reading something, whether it's an audiobook or a physical copy.
Reading is extremely important to me and I joined GR hoping to find others who love to read and chat about the books they've read.
Feel free to message me or friend me. I typically accept all requests. :)

By day, I work at a publishing house in Florida and by night I’m a student 👩🎓 but I always find time in between to read and write.

Now this is perfect for me. I read some of a series and then stop. I need a push to get some read. I have just gotten into m/m romance and young adult so all the other series and genres have been forgotten.
I only read what is free on kindle or available at the libraries in Maryland in paper books or ebooks.
Look forward to the challenges, the buddy reads, making new friends and reading some of my long forgotten tbr books.

I’ve been listening to audiobooks a lot lately, making the most out of my hour long commute to my job in the field as a Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife employee. I enjoy most genres with the exception of religious or political subjects. The past few years I have really been enjoying various non-fiction titles, especially on nature, environmental, or scientific subjects (with the occasional celebrity memoir or serial killer bio thrown in). I eventually get bogged down by non-stop non-fiction and have to “cleanse my reader palate” with a feel good YA or really creepy horror.
I’m excited to be more involved in a book minded community, and look forward to this group!

see you guys around the group and we can't wait to talk to all of you <3
btw there are chats and buddy reads within the group that you guys can join, to start off ;) feel free to message me or any of the mods for any of your questions

I have a BA with a double major in ancient civilisations and modern history and a minor in English, and I've completed the equivalent of a minor in Latin recently. I have first class Honours in Classics, and I'm half-way through the third year of my PhD (currently taking 6-months personal leave from my degree). I'm a Roman historian who specialises in Late Republican social and political history, as well as the history of emotions. My thesis is focused on provincial management in the Late Republican period and Roman-provincial relationships.
As a result of the last 6+ years of study, most of my reading material since 2013 has been scholarship. I love reading fiction, but after a long day of research, it's difficult to sit down and keep reading - my eyes, neck, and shoulders can only take so much! There's also a tendency in academia to view reading fiction as some sort of 'guilty' pleasure: if you have time for reading, you should be reading something for your research. Reading fiction is not 'guilty', though, and I'm determined to read more as I have so many wonderful books on my shelf which have never been opened. This is why I've joined Goodreads and this group :)
I'm stoked to be a part of this group, and looking forward to chatting with you all!

I'm currently an almost 31, mid-west girl moved to the east coast of the USA. I have a BA in English Lit with a minor in creative writing but I haven't done much of either since I graduated in '17. I've been working this year on getting back into things!

My all time favourite genre is, and always has been, fantasy. I also enjoy romance (especially as a subplot in, say, a fantasy book), adventure, comedy, urban fantasy, science fiction, the occasional steampunk, and even historical. I like it best when a book contains one or more genre elements~ Contemporary is usually a hit or miss with me, and as I'm a huge coward, I doubt I'll ever get into the proper horror genre.
As I've just started picking up books again, I'm not sure I'll have much in the way to contribute to this group just yet... But I hope to make some friends who love reading/books as much as I do~ I look forward to chatting with you all!

;-)
Cheers!

~ Fav Genre: Poetry, mystery, thriller, Romance and also self development.
~ Fav authors: John green, r.h sin, r.m drake, Rupi kaur, Laura jane classidy, Rumi, Bridgett devoue.

My name is Anubha, I am from India and I will be 30 in January (WHY GOD WHYYY !!!)
I always wanted to read books but then again, I start one, get distracted in middle and never finish it.
Some time back I started it as a sleeping routine, reading 5 pages a day. It helped me sleep :P but again got distracted, Insta, youtube.
Want to seriously start reading now, starting with 'The Alchemist'
read the first 20 pages, looks good.
Hoping to finish it and start on the reading journey :)

lol hi :) I hear ya, I just turned 30 myself :P

You could easily find that I'm a procastinator seeing my 'read' and 'to-be-read' lists :D
I read mostly non fiction, tech stuff with selected fiction books as well in both English and Tamil.

I actually started (and joined) my first-ever asynchronous book club for The Testaments by Margaret Atwood on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/42770... You are invited to join.
I hope to promote and read indie and trad writers.

I’m a young reader (15), and I love to read mostly YA and Mystery/Thriller. I’ve been getting into fantasy lately, and I’m liking it so far.
If you have any book recommendations, recommended them. :)

Hi everyone! My name is Selina, I'm a hop and a skip away from being 25y.o. [insert crying emoji here], and I'm from the Philippines but I live in South Africa. I'm a junior programmer and I'm studying CompSci at the same time so reading has been very limited. But I make it work somehow :D
My fave genre is High Fantasy (not really any other kind of fantasy like Urban but I can be persuaded sometimes), but I also love Romance (contemporary and historical) and Mystery/Suspense/Thriller. I'm not a huge fan of Sci-fi but I read two so far in my life and really liked them, so I suppose there's hope yet. What I really stay far away from are contemporary books that deal too heavily with IRL issues or melodramatic ya/teen books where kids are dying and falling in love or just ya/teen angsty romance. Basically the only contemporary books I read are YA that's light and more or less happy, and New Adult/Adult books that have the same vibe but I can allow those some moderate angst.
My philosophy is I read books to escape real life, and I don't want to read books that is going to put me back into the Real Life setting with even worse problems rather than give me good feelings. I can, however, deal with those exact same issues and worse in a fantasy setting, which just makes this even weirder lol.
