I read it about 15 years ago...
a girl meets a fairy in a tree in the street, the faiey later turns out to be not so nice and somehow takes over the girl through her belly button (???).
it was real wierd and eery.
can anybody help me recognize it?

I don't remember anything about the cover or any other additional details.
I'm not sure about the genre eather but it was more about the girl and her school trouble than about the fairy.
