Greg, as if your "to read" list isn't already lengthy enough, I'll add a couple of suggestions for two of my favorite Joseph Campbell works: The Hero With a Thousand Faces and The Power of Myth. To me his writing is not as eloquent as his speaking (very charismatic and engaging presence), but still well worth the read. You're probably aware that his The Power of Myth was also a PBS special (with Bill Moyers); updated to include new material and replayed a couple of years ago (in memory of the 25th anniversary of Campbell's death). Your library may have a set of DVDs...early or newer. The book is basically the transcript of the program with Bill Moyers asking questions. (I still have my original 1988 version, and remember rushing home from work to view the PBS program...hoping that the old VCR had recorded it!)Always enjoy your comments and insights. See ya "on the threads".

It's amazing how many times L'Engle was rejected. I'd read that before and was surprised. Thank goodness she did persevere!
And you're right about Campbell - his writing is indeed right up my alley. The little of him I've read I liked a lot. Do you have a favorite book of his to recommend?
Thanks again and looking forward to communicating with you on the All About Books threads! :)
