Jax, I think just creating a new topic should be fine, as long as the year is in the topic.
This is a HARD one for those of us who like a real challenge. It will consist of really evil tasks nominated by group members.
This challenge will work in ranks - 8 tasks, 16 tasks, 24, etc. For each stage that you complete you'll get a special rank. Why? Because we can!
There will be a total of 48 tasks.
Now to start make a new thread under this heading, and call it what you like. Example: Lu's TDRC planning and updates
I will update as we go along in the Points thread.
This has no end date. It's more about how much you want to do, and how much you want to challenge yourself.
Anyone can jump in, just use the books that you have read from the start date to be added - most likely 1 Nov 2018
Tasks:
1. Read the 4th book in a series, but you must have read book 1-3 in that series. So don't just read the 4th book in a series you haven't read.
2. Read a book that uses 3 or more mediums to tell the story (examples of mediums: narrative, letters, diary entries, text messages etc.)
3. Read a book that was written and translated into another language by the author (the author must be both author and translator). You can read it in either language.
4. Read a book where the main character is a real person in history or currently (e.g. Jane Austen, Mary Mallon aka Typhoid Mary). Catch is that the book must be fiction.
5. Read a book where the title is 9 words or longer. No ':' in the title.
6. Read a book with an anthromorphic character i.e. an animal character who displays human characteristics
7. Read a memoir about a non-famous person. So not a popular celeb etc. but rather someone you don't know much about or haven't heard of.
8. Read a book (fiction or nonfiction) based on a historically significant moment/ event in your country
9. Read a Rainbow:
You have to read 8 books. Each book must contain a colour in the title/have that colour cover. The following colours should be used:
White
Red
Orange
Yellow
Green
Blue
Indigo
Violet
You could pick either all covers, or all titles, but not mix the two. (just to make a little trickier...)
10. Read a book where the main character's name begins with the last letter of your first name.
11. Read a book that has won a Pulitzer Prize
12. Read a book with 1000+ pages
13. Read an author whose name (first or last) starts with the letter to the left or right of the first letter in your name. (Example; if your name is Mary then the author's name must begin with a L or N, such as Mark Lawrence or Nancy Holder)
14. Read a book that was published posthumously
15. Choose any 3 classes of discrimination and read 1 book per category where either the main character fits the bill or the storyline deals with it.
16. Read a book where another edition of the same book has a different title (Titles in another language do not count! Both titles need to be in the same language). E.g. And Then There Were None and Ten Little Indians by Agatha Christie.
17. Read a book that repeats a word in the title, for example: Burn for Burn
18. Read a book that is either based on, or the plot relies heavily on an actual secret order. (For the challenge, state which order)
19. Read a book published 1799 or earlier.
20. Read a fiction book that mentions 4 or more other book titles, and list them.
21. Read a book that was co-written by family members (e.g. Marked or Sleeping Beauties)
22. Read a classic or a fairy-tale, then read a retelling of that book.
(i,e; The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes & The House of Silk OR Snow White & Nameless)
23. Read a quadrilogy. (quadrology??)
24. Read a book (fiction or non-fiction) about an infamous killer.
25. Read a book that has a 10th Anniversary edition. (you don't have to read the anniversary edition, the book just has to have a 10th Anniversary edition.)
26. Read 10 books published in 2009
27. Read 2 books that share the same title, but are written by different authors.
28. Read the days of the week - 7 books whose titles with the name in it
eg. One of Our Thursdays Is Missing
29. a book title with only numbers (numeric or written) (can include the, a, an or special characters )
eg. 11/22/63 or The Twelve
30. Read a book written as a diary/ journal but does not have the words diary or journal in the title
31. Read an unknown book which has 50 or less ratings when you started
32. Read a book where the author has also done the illustrations (no graphic novels allowed)
33. Read a book based on a famous legend.

34. Read a book set in two different time periods.
35. Read a book about or set in the "Golden Age of Pirates".
36. Read a book were magic/abilities are a curse, not a gift.
37. Read a book which inspired a game (digital or tabletop).

39. Read a book that has something to do with cold in the title. Example: Winter, frost etc.
40. Read a book that was first published in the 80s.
41. Read a book where the author's name and surname start with the same letter.

45. Read a book from the 10th Annual Goodreads Choice Awards' new 'Best of the Best' category.

47. Read a book whose author is born between 23 July and 22 August or was first published in the month of July.
