I read this book so quickly, damn! I finished it in one day! so many things happened in this book I just can't believe it! I read book 4 and stopped last time, I truly hate romance in books, #sorrynotsorry, I want to escape from the world, not be constantly shown that my relationships will never compare to theirs. So the amount of romance in these books really just make me not want to invest my time in them, they're not too bad if I spread them out but just binging them like how fast you're going through them, I would just get so angry all my reviews would be rants and I would rate them way lower because of it.

Sure, he had to weigh the consequences of being with her - any good leader of the Pack would - but I really think he loves her. He isn't manipulating her for her blood, he is manipulating her to try to keep her safe, etc. I hope she snaps out of it soon! (hide spoiler)]
Ch 19 - (view spoiler)[ While I am sorry that Julie has been hurt and will likely go loup, I am really not sure about this plan of Kate's to fix her. I mean, she barely has any control over her blood at the moment, and this spell requires her to pull it out of Julie, mix it with her own, AND put it back into Julie's body - that seems pretty hard already, but then she also has to get a boost of magic from the device that they haven't tracked down yet. TOO much. (hide spoiler)]
Finished - (view spoiler)[ Um, for the first time in this series, I felt like that ending was rather abrupt....meaning it resolved itself too quickly. We really only got the one big battle at the airport and it was over, device recovered, Julie saved, end of story. And it all happened in about 20 pages. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the book and I love the series, it just seemed a little different than past books. Maybe it is just the mood I'm in, who knows? Did anyone else feel that way? I was shocked about Kate's mom past this explain so much why Voron took care of her and his "love" about her mother, is so messed up. Some part of my theory became true Voron was making Kate a weapon to use against Roland not because he cares but you wanna to, it seems at the end they will still have to fight but it makes me wonder if Roland want to still fight against Kate. I mean, he can surely kill her but haven't to, why?

Also, I seriously Kate stop making thoughts about Curran using her or not loving her, that just hurt too much I hope they talk soon about everything.

I hope we will see more of her mom's family because it sounds very interesting. Also, think Kate has her powers but hadn't been able to unlock them yet. I never really liked Voron so I'm glad that now I have a valid reason for my hatred hahaha.

I just don't like how it makes Kate doubt him and I'm wondering if she will EVER feel secure in her relationship with him. For someone that is so tough, she sure does need a lot of constant reassurance from him. The thing with Hugh is getting interesting. He hasn't outright killed her or threatened her yet, so he must want something from her - what if it is to team up and take her father down together?? (hide spoiler)]
Ch 15 (73%) - (view spoiler)[ WTF! I am so disappointed with Curran right now. Even if whatever he is doing is part of some plan, at least tell her "it's all part of my plan, baby" Geez!! That was some fight with Hugh.....but something tells me that he was holding back. She needs more time! I'm not sure whether to be creeped out by his attraction to her or to accept it as her mojo. I mean, whenever she and Curran fight, he gets aroused too. Perhaps she attracts a certain type. (hide spoiler)]
Finished - (view spoiler)[ I am really going to miss Aunt B!!! And what a gift this Christian guy is. This was a fun adventure, but now she is definitely running out of time. Will Roland move on her in the next book, or will she have to face Hugh a few more times first?

My copy also had a deleted scene of when she saved Saiman from his kidnapping. It made me wonder about his role in her future. There was a part where she didn't want to use another power word in front of him because she still doesn't want him to investigate her origins - but I kept thinking how Saiman is one of the smartest characters in this series and if Curran could figure out who she was (way back when he didn't have that much info on her), then surely Saiman has figured it out. And if he hasn't previously, he must know now that they've run from Hugh, etc. So what will his role be in her group? (hide spoiler)]

Raphael and Andrea just melt my heart same as Curran and Kate, I keep asking where the hell is Dali? Since the third and the little story she hasn't appear just Jim! I wanna see how they are doing, ugh.

So they've bought themselves some time, but have to give up their leadership roles. No biggie. Clearly, that isn't the end of the story though according to the preface. It has me wondering what the heck will happen in the next book - will it just be back to the usual solving of a case? Will Roland or Hugh find some new way to mess with her and not break the agreement? Will there be a new bad guy that will challenge her claiming of the city? Ugh, I don't have time to dive into book 8 this minute.....but I want to!!! (hide spoiler)]

You know, I was feeling the same way with this book. I was hesitating to dive into it, and I've found it easy to put down -- completely different than how I felt about earlier books. I wonder if it is due just being busy / the holiday craziness which just has me generally more distracted, or if it is because now that she and Curran are together and there is a tentative truce with her father, things aren't as urgent and therefore less interesting??
