The Day the Falls Stood Still question

I was surprised at the ending of the book that the questions surrounding Isabel were not resolved. I'm curious what other readers thought had happened between her and Boyce. What was the favor she had to ask? Was their relationship really cut off because her father was sacked? Was it really suicide (there were numerous clues indicating it might not have been)?
