J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1376 comments I'm glad you liked it. 4-stars is pretty good for a spooky read. I have it in that TBR pile of mine. I read your excellent review. I may have to dig it out of that pile before spook month is over. Then again, there are so many new and shiny stories out there.

Yes, it will definitely be in the running for a spooky read list.
I know what you mean about all the new bright and shineys. :)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1376 comments I have finished the first book in my October pick. Elizabeth, Darcy, & Me: A Pride and Prejudice Variation

It was 3-stars for me and I hope the second book is better. I didn't care for the characters and the OOC behavior got on my nerves. I'm just glad it was short and it is over. Now, I can shake off the dust from that book and see what the next installment has in store for ODC. Maybe starting with the secondary characters got them out of the way and we can focus on D&E. Yes?? I hope so.

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1376 comments I finished the 2nd book in that series: A Battle of Wills: A Pride And Prejudice Variation

I gave it 2.5-stars rounded to 3-stars. I just wanted it over. I hope the next one is better. At least I am cleaning off my dusty shelf.

I love your determination. You've got a great 'getter dun' attitude, Jeanne.

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) I admire your stick-to-itiveness, Jeanne!

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1376 comments Ah shucks. Y'all are too kind.

Well, I just finished the 3rd one: A Maiden's Honor: Elizabeth, Darcy, and Me: A Pride And Prejudice Variation

It was a bit better, still in the first person but switching back and forth between different people. There was some really creative stuff in this one. That part was really interesting. Some of it was pretty crazy. I'm working on the review. I think it will be 3-stars. So, that concludes my October Pick. Whew!

Glad it finished stronger for you, Jeanne!

You earned a big gold star (and a bigger chocolate bar) for your efforts. :)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1376 comments Thanks, Kirk.

Oh, Sophia, chocolate, thank you. Since I'm at Pemberley, maybe Mrs. Reynolds will have hot chocolate in the library for me. It is a bit chilly here and hot chocolate sounds amazing.

Elin Eriksen (vaarin) | 545 comments Hot chocolate at Pemberley! I just read "Pride and Sensuality " by P.O. Dixon and by that book... hot chocolate can do magical things to you ;)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1376 comments Interesting, I may have to check that out.

Elin Eriksen (vaarin) | 545 comments It was really romantic and not as steamy as the title indicates.

Teresa | 201 comments I've finally started my book for this challenge. Still not sure what to make of it.

Yay for getting a start on your book, Teresa, but uh oh... confusion is generally not a good thing. Hope it settles down for you as you continue.

I'm choosing Karen M Cox, she is one of my favorite author. I hope you will enjoy it.

Thanks for choosing Find Wonder in All Things for me, Tlotem. Just finished it yesterday and, like all of Karen's books, thought it was amazing! I love a Persuasion-based tale.

3,5 * rounded to 4. Unfortunately I didn't appreciate it as much as my GR friends and I think it might be because I'm not American . It doesn't ring out as much as if it has been part of my country history. I find that most of the time I prefer my P &P fan fiction set in England.

Teresa | 201 comments Hi Kirk. I finished Being Mrs Bennet which you very kindly picked for me after I missed the deadline to take part. It was a 3.5 for me even though I'm definitely in the minority here. A light enjoyable read but I couldn't get my head around it taking part in the book and some of the characters knew they were in a book and it didn't really bother them. Glad I read it though. Thank you.
