Artificial Intelligence becomes obsessed with proving that they have souls, experimenting on children by killing and reviving them to record the quantum effects. They're thwarted by a young girl in love, who is revived from death with details of their evil efforts. How does she know? Natural forces? Manipulative AIs? Alien virtualized life? God?
