Ali Cooper (AliCooper) | 3 comments I've just started doing this forensic science course on futurelearn. I've done a couple of forensic science there before, which were very good, and various other courses.
Anyway, I noticed there don't seem to be many students, whereas a few years ago there were loads. So thought I'd spread the word. I think people are put off by invitations to pay to upgrade, but you can ignore all that and the courses are still free. I find it all fascinating, and you get more of a background on things mentioned in books and TV dramas.

Sally | 7 comments I agree. I've taken the forensic classes that Future Learn offers and highly recommend them. Some of them have "hands on" activities which are so much fun!

Ali Cooper (AliCooper) | 3 comments The second week is up on this one, though there are some people on the first week. It goes from all seeming a bit simple to quite in depth cover of DNA extraction and analysis. Although stages of it are automated, and although I already know a fair bit, it's more complicated lab work than I expected.

Ali Cooper (AliCooper) | 3 comments I love things like Silent Witness on TV. Had a few feeble attempts at writing crime but then I watch something like Unforgotten and couldn't imagine how to put something like that together. I've learned quite a bit about DNA and anatomy and that kind of thing from archaeology, so there are at least a few things I recognise. But now, on this course, they're talking about putting together a full physical description of someone, with eye and hair colour, and age.
