Kelsey (thebestthereis07) | 0 comments I’m working on my to read list for fall. I’ll list some of my favorites that have given me that spooky, cold, fall hyggelicious feeling I’m always searching for.

House of Leaves - Mark Danielewski
Heart Shaped Box - Joe Jill
Ghost Story - Peter Straub
Penpal- Dathan Auerbach
The Ritual- Adam Neville (pretty much anything Neville)

Others stories I loved, (for reference) although they don’t match the fall season feel:

Summer Of Night- Dan Simmons
The Terror- Dan Simmons
A Winter Haunting- Dan Simmons
The Elementals
Crimson Peak

Any tips on similar books/authors?

Ghost Story is one of the scariest stories I ever read. Don't think I"ve read anything that touched it.

Usher's Passing is really good. I associate it with Fall.

Randy Money | 432 comments Have you read Neville's Banquet For the Damned? It begins just before the fall college semester starts and events go into October.

Something kinda sorta equivalent to the Hill novel, Dark Harvest. I suspect there's a bit of Bradbury in his book, but Partridge writes more like hard-boiled or noir writer, and doesn't have the poetic streak Bradbury had.

And, of course, we'll have have Something Wicked This Way Comes to fall (*cough*) back on.

Kelsey (thebestthereis07) | 0 comments I just got Banquet of The Damned yesterday!
Dark Harvest is on my list.
And I’ve read Something Wicked but it certainly deserves a reread.

Thanks guys!
