So I liked the premise. Though I was desperately trying to remember the Aeneid. I read it in a Romantic Literature class at WSU (Dr Woodhouse?). He even had us get the version with latin on one side and english on the other. I enjoyed the back and forth of Lavinia being a real figure or made by Virgil (or Le Guin). Fortunately, I remembered little of the Aeneid. So I enjoyed seeing events unfold, though lots of foreshadowing. Though once you use ghost of authors, is that really to heavy handed to be foreshadowing. After than, I really felt it dragged. It just soooooooo slow. I was a bit upset with Lavinia transforming into.... a bird. Okay a immortal bird. But why? maybe i am dense and didn't get it.
