In this witty book the author tells Bernadette’s story from mostly the view of her daughter, Bee. Bernadette and her family live in Seattle where Bee is a student, her husband is a genius who works for Microsoft and Bernadette sits at home trying to forget her past. She was once considered a famous architect, but few people know that anymore and now Bernadette is missing.

The author uses emails, letters and reports to tell most of the story. This method shows personalities of different characters and allows the author to add in humor.

The search for Bernadette and her motives lead to a better understanding of her. Highlights of the story are Bernadette and Bee’s mother daughter relationship, quirky things that Bernadette does and school drama around parents. It was a fun read.
