ShazM | 493 comments A middle-aged man returns to the place where magical things happened when he was seven years old. When he's not there he doesn't really remember but somehow when he's by the pond(ocean) it all comes back to him. He's looking for his friend who might be there or might not be.

I know that sounds confused but then I am! I really liked this book - it is a wonderful story of magic and friendship. I like the little boy and the three women. I dislike his family and, obviously, the bad things which come and I would have given it five stars if it wasn't for the slight feeling that not all of my questions were answered.

Of course that may be the point and I'm not supposed to understand but I'll leave it a bit and read it again just in case!

Jgrace | 3987 comments You said that you read it and didn't mention an audiobook, so I'll assume you haven't listened to Gaiman read this story. If you want to return to this book, try the audio! I love the way he reads his own work.

Susie This was my first Gaiman, and the one I’ve liked the most.

That's a great idea, thanks!

Amy | 13071 comments I was in the didn’t love camp. But again, that’s what diversity in taste is about.
