Cannot remember cover, author or any other detail (except it was a fascinating novel with a pretty distinctive plot line). The names Alex and Oliver are in my head but I suspect they were from another novel at the time...

This book followed the amazing life of this individual who started as black man and ended as white woman. I read this probably 15-20 years ago.
