Bun, you were missed in a linguistics discussion regarding the long a sound.

message 54: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) That's it! That's when the name of BunWat was invoked.

message 55: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 777 comments Royal aura is everything, Stephen--just ask Queen Eilzabeth. If you don't have royal aura, your authority is subject to question and you could be overthrown and then another 8 year old would get to be princess of Halloween and how terrible a thought is that?

message 56: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) That would be truly terrible. It's a terrible thought that 8 year old girls overthrow one another for princess of Halloween.

message 57: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Leslie, I just realized--you are the Happy Lobster!!

message 58: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 777 comments Yep, I'm the happy lobster, because I retained my crown for three Halloweens in a row!!
It's dog-eat-dog in the Halloween princess business, dog-eat-dog RRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

message 59: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) You are the queen of lobster princesses.

message 60: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 777 comments Thank you! You have just bestowed upon me the highest order of crusteceans--We are most grateful.

message 61: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Oh goody! Now I don't have to clam up.

Stephen (stephenT) Hey I resemble that remark.

Good lord, RA. Can't we have just ONE cute thread to balance out the entire SECTION full of sports?

message 66: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments ::high fives Sally::

message 67: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) More and more disturbing.

message 68: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments high-fives Stephen

message 69: by [deleted user] (new)

::gets out dictionary::

message 70: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Bumptious is offensively self-assertive. Would you prefer a more retiring Stephen, one who hand washes lace madagascars? OR, one who amusant? Bumptious indeed!

high-fives RA

message 71: by [deleted user] (new)

OK, I feel better I know what Bun was saying now.

message 72: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments A madagascar is something other than a country? This thread is informative.

message 73: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Bumptious is better than nothing, I say. Bun recognition of any sort should always be welcome.

message 74: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) I was thinking of those things little old ladies put on the back of their chairs to keep greasy hair from messing up the upholstery.

Bumptious!

message 75: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Larry, I'm trying to instigate something here. shhhhh.

message 76: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) I'll be gone now for a couple of hours. I expect tons of good material when I get back. Also, who is in charge of Christmas Wish Lists? Ta Ta for now

message 77: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Uh ....

message 78: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Antimacassar! That is the very word. Ave BunWatia, Optima Maxima.

I don't fear no one knows I'm here, I fear that quiet means :(

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments So, what did they call them before Victorian times? Or did they not put doilies on their armchairs before then...

message 80: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) I just found this supreme court precedent, with Chief Justice BunWat presiding. Posted on another thread.

Stupid comments are forgivable by virtue of Supreme Court decision in the case of Ficus vs. Stephen, et.al., where the court found for Ficus. Justice Larry wrote: "The ficus is part of TC culture," Yet, Stephen et.al., was granted the right to maintain Venus Fly Trap, unharmed.

They were call Unclemacassars before that.

message 81: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Armchairs were rather rare, anyway.

message 82: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I learn so much around here.

message 83: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) That's because your mind is like a sponge, Sarah Pi. No ... that's a good thing.

message 84: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) BunWat wrote: "Plus people were wearing hats indoors. "

::shudders::

message 85: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i only have heard of one other Bun. the drummer for Cheap Trick. anyone? anyone? jackie?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I guess there's a rapper called Bun B.

message 87: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Bun what?

message 88: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Bunberry.

message 90: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments c'mon jacks....dig a bit (although i thought you above all would jump all over this)

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Sorry, Kevin. All I can think of is fictional socialites named Bunny, and a rabbit named Bugs.

Oh, and Bunny Breckinridge, who had a role in "Plan Nine From Outer Space". I believe he was played by Bill Murray in "Ed Wood".

message 92: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments drummer for Cheap Trick.....

oh forget it! :)

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments You said that already, Kevin. I thought you wanted OTHER people named Bun, not just Bun E. Carlos.

I'm confused...

message 94: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments sally was right about me LOLOLOL

Leslie | 777 comments Since I'm the Princess of Halloween, I now deem Stephen--Sir Bumptious, Lord of Madagasgar, where he now has to go live and preside over his kingdom of chair protecting old ladies and their annoying lace things all over everything. And they have a lot of lemurs there, too.
But luckily, they do have the internet there, so Sir Bumptious can still always be on TC--Yeah!! :-)

message 97: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Yea! Sir Bumptious is delighted.

message 98: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 777 comments I hope you do enjoy your assignment, Sir Bumptious, I am looking forward to your reports from the hinterlands of the kingdom.
And don't adopt a lemur--they bite. Some of those old ladies might, too.

message 99: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Tomorrow I shall file a full report on both the old ladies lodgings, and the lemur population. Until then, no comment.

message 100: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 777 comments I am well pleased with your sevices, Sir Bumptious.
