I just read this essay with photos in Fine Books magazine that talks about the stairs at the Cobb in the town of Lyme Regis featured in the movie versions of Persuasion. I thought fellow Jane Austen fans on Goodreads might enjoy seeing this. I wasn't sure what folder to post in, so please forgive me if this is not in the best place. My favorite Persuasion film version is the 1995 PBS release with Amanda Root. Persuasion and Pride and Prejudice are my two favorite Austen novels, depending on which one I'm reading at the time.

The water looks gorgeous! I’ve peeked at the images as I’m on break at work, but I’ll read the article later!

Thank you!

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) | 513 comments Thanks for posting this article, Stephen! I had never paused to speculate about the steps. In my imagination it had always been the Granny's Teeth set, but I can see how impossible that would have been for someone in Regency dress--I wouldn't care to attempt it myself!

QNPoohBear | 737 comments I've read they were Granny's teeth. https://www.janeausten.co.uk/the-cobb...

Persuasion is my favorite too and I was really hoping to get to England this year for the anniversary but it is not to be. I'm dying to see those steps (even though I'm the only New Englander who won't go near a beach). I also wanted to go to JASNA to see Amanda Root. The 1995 movie is so lovely!
