Problems For Wattpad Users

In recent days, Wattpad has made an update to the app. This is causing massive problems for Wattpad users. Currently the change to Notifications is causing people to recieve all the message board messages of the authors/stories they are following. Except the Notifications claim to be writen on YOUR message board. That is incorrect. There is currently no way to disable the notifications without disabling the ones you want to see... Like Comments, Votes, and Likes ect.

2nd issue, rumors are circulating that Wattpad is also deleting stories, especially to the roleplaying crowd.

3rd People are indicating tht Wattpad implemented a new policy change (though I have yet to actually see any notice, e-mail, or indication that this was being done except through word of mouth by other writers there. Apparently the Private chapters will be eliminated. I don’t know whether it’s because they are getting ride of the Privacy option or if they are going to try and make everything there PG-13. Apparently writers will have to republishing these chapters. I’m still trying to track down that information as we speak.

Right now, personally I am concerned. Like the Photobucket I once used, I believe Wattpad might be going to a payment system that is over priced and ridiculous to it’s users and the reason for which we all originally became members of - since the targeted audiance is between 13 and above how are they going to pay the $54.00 a year? I get that they have to make money but the ads are now starting to get obnoxiously annoying and over run by them. Half of the video ads don’t load and freeze up, requiring you to exit out of the app and relaunch.

Why am I telling you? Well for the obvious reasons but mostly because of the app support and the staff at Wattpad. It’s currently being runned by bots that do not resolve most of these current issues. I had a complaint or issue a few months back. I recieved a notice that they got my complaint. It was followed by a seemingly semi reasonable response. When I replied to the message I was unaware that I wasn’t actually dealing with a support person from Wattpad. That became obvious when I repiled back to the “Supposed Support Staff” with a question. Instead of receiving and actual response or answer to that question, I was given a balnket statement that my issue was now considered resolved. It was far from resolved.

What I am saying is that Watpad isn’t being honest, up front, or clear. It’s also changing and I think it might be important if the people in this group keep each other updated to what’s going on at Wattpad and to possibly find perhaps an alternative to Wattpad if it comes down to it. These recent events are leading me to believe that there may be a mass exit from the app and the site. Already people are unfollowing authors from the Notification issue currently plaguing with the recent update.
