Just finished. Agree that the last 100 pages or so were page turners, very fast paced compared to the rest of the novel.

Very solid start to the series, IMO. Looking forward to more.

Not sure I can commit to reading the whole of the Realm of the Elderlings, but I will try my best.

Jumping in a wee-bit late - 22% in. This is a re-read for me and I never went further than this book even though I really enjoyed it. Taking the opportunity to complete the trilogy (and more) if time allows!

That's the plan. I think I got a few chapters into book two, but got waylaid by other books back in 2014. Time flies :)

I think it was the same or better or at leastI may have perceived it to be a hard read in my memory, but it was quite the opposite.

I feel, the same. When I first read it years ago I struggled with it and it took me a while. This time around I found it much easier, I was listening to the audio book and I found it super enjoyable.

I also am kinda suspecting that his dad and mom are both still alive, but just guessing - haven't read the second book and beyond before! (hide spoiler)]

Wit and skill thoughts ~(view spoiler)[I agree with you all as well. I mean they always say that the wit is dangerous, right? How you can dive into it and forget yourself, becoming more of the beast? But I think the skill is just as dangerous. During Fitz's training there were so many 'temptations' when he dove deep into someones mind. Not to mention the fact that Regal became so weakened by the constant use of the skill. So if they are in fact two sides of the same coin maybe one talent is just more accepted in society than the other? O.o (hide spoiler)]

And is that the same mix for the Wit as well as Skill. Also when Galen was so vehemently against the Wit I automatically felt that it wasn't truly so bad as Burrich seems to believe. I hope we get some back story on what experience Burrich has with the Wit. (hide spoiler)]
