They all crave for Galen's approval now and learned to look down on all other people as commoners and stupid, not a positive character development at all. What's the point of her pride and grit if in the end she turned into a cold heartless woman? One that no doubt would willingly kill innocents for the sake of 'honor' I bet. Poor Selene, the wisest girl was the one that quit early I think, at least she got to keep her heart. (hide spoiler)]

I've finished reading today and... it was really good one!
From the very beginning (when I read about 150 pages) I felt a bit bored, but close to about 200ish page I've realized that I'm totally hooked with this great story.
The world, the 'magic' line are unique, the characters are not ordinary and there are so many things still to be uncovered, I'm totally into the series and ofc going to continue reading :)

Smithy was such a beautiful soul, why did someone kill him? :'( I also cried at Fitz's conversation with Burrich. I know Burrich loves him, but he's set in his ways and stubborn and won't accept what Fitz does, so he's done with him. It's so cruel. Poor Fitz has noone now, even Chade hasn't called on him. Molly has a new boyfriend. If he wasn't prone to depression before I can't say I bloody blame him now.

The problem was that Galen was the sole apprentice of the previous skillmaster, and now that the skillmaster is gone. Galen IS the only skillmaster left. Bad decision, bad result.

Just tore through this book today, oh my goodness I think I have a new favorite author here. It is a five star rating from me ^_^

(view spoiler)[There were so many twists and turns at the end....and that Regal...I don't know if I've ever hated a villain so much as him >_<

And for Hobb to twist our emotions up with all of Fitz's little animal companions :'( Smithy was such a loyal friend. And Nosey too. I'm pretty sure I shed more than a tear or two on that final line.

While things were tied up nicely here there is still so much left unanswered. I only imagine the the next books in the trilogy will touch more on the forged and the Red Raiders. I'm really interested in learning more of the wit and other magics of this world too. All in all I can't wait to continue this series :D (hide spoiler)]

That conversation with Burrich, "how did you think I would kill a dog for something you did? You never learned better of me?" Damn, he's right. Why did I not question that the more we got to know Burrich? Of course he would never kill any animal in his care! I feel awful for believing that of him! As Fitz must feel too!

He was the first in line of succession, so he should have had greater power to arrange such security measures. Furthermore, if his diplomatic skill was that good, he could've convinced at least Verity and the King to protect Fitz. (hide spoiler)]

Omg! That was ridiculous! I can't believe they let Regal live after that! If Fitz had tried to harm Regal, he would have been executed. Regal tries to murder Fitz, Burrich and the freaking king in waiting and it's all 'a childish prank'. What the actual fuck.

I'm wondering, did Shrewd know of the plan? It seemed like he favoured Regal and was blind to his faults. Maybe he intended him to displace Verity.
