I agree with you Anny. (view spoiler)
I just felt like Galon wanted to break the kids to his will, no other particular reason for his cruelty...👿
I've finished reading today and... it was really good one! From the very beginning (when I read about 150 pages) I felt a bit bored, but close to about 200ish page I've realized that I'm totally hooked with this great story.
The world, the 'magic' line are unique, the characters are not ordinary and there are so many things still to be uncovered, I'm totally into the series and ofc going to continue reading :)
Choko wrote: "I just felt like Galon wanted to break the kids to his will, no other particular reason for his cruelty...👿"Yeah! He is too envious, can't stand when someone is better than he is. Such a bad person to teach kids :(

The problem was that Galen was the sole apprentice of the previous skillmaster, and now that the skillmaster is gone. Galen IS the only skillmaster left. Bad decision, bad result.

@Anny I understand why Galen was the only choice but it was definitely poor planning. They said something about Galen (view spoiler)

Yay! :D Have you read any other of her works? I only just peeked into her novels and she has quite a few other series it seems. ^_^

Five of her series are connected to a bigger series, Realms of the Elderling, I'm not done with them yet, I still have 5 books left :) Otherwise I haven't read anything by her...
I'm halfway through Ch. 19... I love fantasy books but at the same time they give me such anxiety. Poor Fitz has already gone through so much crap.(view spoiler)
@Katie pretty much most of her books and short stories are set in the Realm of Ederlings. There are i believe 16 books total divided into 5 series. If enough people enjoy the series, we could set up BRs forthe remaining books.

I finished and I'm x2 heartbroken again! 😢
I loved this book though. Only an exceptional author can make me care enough to break my heart all these times!
Reading all the spoilers now. I also loved all the twists and turns towards the end. I couldn't put it down last night. Can't wait for the next book.

I finished the book. I am hooked and will sure continue to read the series this year :)Like many said here, time to open the spoilers!

Same sentiments. I have a new favorite author :)
I have been trying to avoid this thread as I seem to be reading much slower than everyone else. Just starting Chapter 11 here. Really liking things so far and I get a sense that the action and intrigue is really about to pick up!

Want to set the whole thing now or wait until we at least finish the Farseer trilogy?

I'm not finished yet but I'm afraid to! I'm up to chapter 20 and right now Fitz is alive and well, I'd like to end it here please before more tragedy befalls him.

Probably best to work something out after we finish the Farseer trilogy, huh? lol.
I'd love to read the whole Realm of the Elderlings. Barry, I think when we initially discussed it we thought one book a month with a month off between each trilogy/sub-series. How does that sound to everyone? We could just keep scheduling the next little section as we go rather than commit to the whole thing if people think that's better?

I'm nearly finished Chapter 15 too (view spoiler)[ and I agree, Galen is horrendous. What he's doing to Fitz is wrong, someone needs to put a stop to it.
I love the puppy too! I hope Smithy stays a while. (hide spoiler)]
