Daveleavold I'm from Norwich, and noted a few mistakes in the book. Firstly, Norwich castle isn't the smooth, featureless box that the author makes it out to be. The facade of its Norman keep had begun to deteriorate badly by the early nineteenth century, so it was refaced in a way which replicated the original Norman design. This restoration reproduced the original features of Norman arches, and so on. Secondly, Norwich has thirty-four medieval churches, which, although still a very large number, isn't the fifty-two described in the book. Norwich had this amount of churches in the Middle Ages. A third mistake is that the area outside Norwich cathedral is 'Tombland', not 'Tomblands.' Another point is to do with realism: Ruth asks Frank how so-called resurrectionists obtained corpses. She's a forensic archaeologist with a PhD, so surely wouldn't have needed to ask such a question. In general, I thought the book was fairly entertaining, but the denouement wasn't exactly jaw-dropping. At a stretch, I'd give it three stars.
