Success and Likeability

"Success and likeability are positively correlated for men and negatively correlated for women." p.40. Sandberg believes that this bias is at the very core of why women are held back and also why women hold themselves back. "In order to protect ourselves from being disliked, we (women) question our abilities and downplay our achievements." This struck a major chord with me. Does anyone else feel the same way? Why do women desire so badly to be liked? And is being liked necessary in some way for success?

Becoming a successful woman in the business requires not only efforts from myself, but also needs a supportive husband who always stand by and gives advice if necessary.
