I've been somewhat remiss in letting you know about the latest adventures of Josiah and Archibald, my Undertakers, which is a pity as they've been on a bit of a purple streak with not one, but TWO gold cherry awards in succession! First, there was this seasonal offering:https://www.abctales.com/story/philwh...
And then this two-parter, in which Archibald breaks the habits of a lifetime and answers the telephone, with predictable results!https://www.abctales.com/story/philwh...

I'm on a bit of a roll with these two! And, although I say this as shouldn't, I rather like this one:https://www.abctales.com/story/philwh...
It is impossible to see how these two can work together in perfect harmony - Josiah must have infinite patience!

Oddly enough, someone who commented on ABCtales said more or less the same thing! Thanks for taking the time to comment :-)
There ARE people like Archibald in the world. How they manage to keep living when they get so much completely wrong mystifies me.
Alicia wrote: "There ARE people like Archibald in the world. How they manage to keep living when they get so much completely wrong mystifies me."There are indeed, Alicia, and I don't exclude myself from that number at times :-)
You know how it is when you re-read something you wrote a few years ago and think 'Did I write that?' Well, apparently, I did and I think it bears revisiting :-)https://www.abctales.com/story/philwh...
Is it always 'goodwill to all men' on the Christmas Tree, or do the petty jealousies and general grouchiness of the festive season, spread there as well?https://www.abctales.com/story/philwh...
The second of my planned three pre-Christmaa stories. This time, Peregrine and Prudence are annoying their neighbours again:https://www.abctales.com/story/philwh...
I promised that there would be a third Christmas-themed story by today, and this is it! Josiah wrestles with a quandary and Archibald drums up trade ;-)https://www.abctales.com/story/philwh...
Here it is, and all I'm saying is, don't blame me, blame Josiah!https://www.abctales.com/story/philwh...
An exercise in suspense. And the creation of an origin story if something (hint, hint) ever manages to happen.
Alicia wrote: "An exercise in suspense. And the creation of an origin story if something (hint, hint) ever manages to happen."Yes, I feel a bit guilty about the degree of suspense engendered, but not that guilty that I'm not going to do it again ;-)
Watch this space for news of the next exciting episode!
It's also won a Pick of the Day award, about which I'm really chuffed. For those who are new to Josiah and Archibald's doings, their first collection of stories will be FREE for one day only tomorrow. Something to read whilst nursing that inexplicable headache!
FREE today for one day only https://getbook.at/ADubiousUndertaking
OFFER NOW EXTENDED TO 3rd January, 2023! :-)
The third part of my Undertakers Christmas trilogy, 'The Trouble with Horace Dimchurch' is written, being edited and should be available on Friday, 6th January! In the meantime, you can catch up with Josiah and Archibald's earlier adventures for FREE as their first collection of stories ends its New Year price promotion, today.https://getbook.at/ADubiousUndertaking
As threatened, the third and final instalment of the Undertakers festive season trilogy:https://www.abctales.com/story/philwh...
Alicia wrote: "Aha! And there is STILL more to come."You noticed! Yep, the fourth episode in the 'trilogy' will be along soon :-)
And it got a Cherry Award, that means every story in the trilogy (!) has won an award of one sort or the other :-)
Never let it be said that I ignore the obvious when it comes to my story titles! ;-)The Undertakers are back (well, one of them anyway) with a brand new story for 2023.

I think Ms. Knight is a welcome addition to Archibald's life, even if he's worried. Nice of her to see potential. Maybe there IS hope.
Alicia wrote: "I think Ms. Knight is a welcome addition to Archibald's life, even if he's worried. Nice of her to see potential. Maybe there IS hope."Yes, I think she'll help to move it from a permanent duologue to something a bit more interesting. I'm glad you like her, I wasn't sure whether to make her a mostly 'silent' character, doomed to only make fleeting appearances, or to let her take a more involved part. Watch this space for further developments!
