Do not be fooled by my middle-of-the-road rating, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and laughed aloud on more than one occasion! But, when it came down to it, it was just lighthearted fun and I can't say that it did more than entertain me, which is usually a requirement for those 4 and 5 stars.
Jen Dixon is her son's kindergarten class's class mom. She is older than most of the other parents, wields a wicked sense of humor, and becomes embroiled in typical school scandals. I thoroughly enjoyed Jen, I thoroughly enjoyed the cast of characters. I rolled my eyes a bit at the "intrigue" and the "flirting" that occurred throughout the book as it was fairly contrived and juvenile, but it was completely tolerable (maybe even a bit expected?) given the genre.
I will totally be looking for other stuff from Gelman for when I need a fun, light read that will make me smile.
