With modern technology, its now very hard to get 'bored', but I guess people need to realise what boredom is, because even when playing with your gadgets, if you do it 'mindlessly', sometimes that just exacerbates your state of mind!
I like how this book not only remind us the power of being bored in our daily lives, it also serves as a reminder of doing things 'mindfully' in the presents of smartphones. I often see people playing with their phones while blow drying their hair in the gym, and I would think 'are you really that bored?' Are these so called mundane tasks not a kind of therapeutic way to relax, clear your mind just for a few minutes?
One of the quotes from the book,
'... When you're unconscious, that's when bad things happen... "I call it junk surfing," ... "Spending hours on Facebook not doing anything, consuming the information equivalent of junk food." '
Let your mind wonder off once in a while. Try not looking at your phone next time you are in the queue and instead, look around the things/people around you, and you might find something interesting that could surprise or inspire, and even make your day!
