I really enjoy this interesting character with his gutsy personality and huge chip on his shoulder. He's intelligent with a lot of street smarts but not corrupt. I think he can evolve into an effective tribal police chief and will eventually openly defy Malachi. Maybe the writers see him this way...maybe not but surely he will remain as a regular. The tension between he and Walt is interesting but I hope for more trust to develop especially with Henry. Zahn is so good in this role.

I also like Mathias. But then I like all of the characters in this show except for Lizzie. I could not stand her. But back to Mathias.....
I think that he is an excellent Tribal Police Officer that cares about his people, although he may not like a lot of them. I hope that the writers have created a non-corrupt, man of integrity within his character.
I enjoy his "pissing matches" with Walt and like it when he works with Walt on a case.

I think that Mathias has the potential of being a non-corrupt man but at this point, he lacks integrity in my humble opinion. He has many chances to make a professional decision when he instead goes with a more personal agenda. I think he has potential and is not corrupt, just maybe bitter?

Very well put Cross. I totally agree with you, Mathias has proven himself to be a law abiding officer of Tribal Law. And he has helped both Walt and Henry this season in particular (of course Henry had to pay him) which is more than he has done previously. He definitely has potential!
