I went to Walden about 10 years ago, Rach, and it was exactly that: a pilgrimage. (This group's avatar is a photo I took of the Pond from the site of Thoreau's cabin, btw.)
I'm planning to go back this year for my 50th birthday, but I'm a bit worried about visiting it again now, after all the reports I've been reading about its decline. Hopefully it's not too depressing.

Since it's been a little quiet around here lately, I thought I'd share some recent articles that Atlas Obscura (a fascinating "off the beaten path" travel website) has shared.
The first is about how Walden is changing, through the eyes of 3 people: a photographer, a scientist, and a gamer (of all things). https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles...
The second is about a bird mural project going on in New York right now, sponsored by Audubon: https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/a...
Enjoy!
