" Judge Not! " - These are two of the most recognized words in the Bible. What do they mean?

* Many unbelievers quote them in an effort to divert attention from their sinful life styles.

* Many believers think they mean that we should not call for repentance from sin.

But what does this really mean? What is the context?

What do you think this passage means?

The problem with "Judge Not" is hypocritical judgment... not just judgment. God tells us that we are supposed to judge. Lets look at this passage...
_________________________

Matthew 7:1-5

7 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

* Judgment #1 - judge yourself and with God's help remove the log from your own eye

* Judgment #2 - after doing so, you will see clearly to judge the speck in your brother's eye, and help him remove the speck

* God's glorious end results - both pieces of wood are removed … and both brothers are restored to wholeness!

Praise the Name of Jesus!

I believe I would go, because there is no verse that says you can chew the head off a chicken for salvation. "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. St John 7:24. That is why I would walk out of every church in the United States, it is that bad.

My response: If someone calls himself Elijah… I would not listen to anything that person has to say... since Jesus already identified who was Elijah… John the Baptist (according to Jesus)
