He resisted the urge to wipe the tear away, he could make sure she was okay once they were out. He looked around and took her hand.
"Come on." He looked around before leading the way again. They did need to get out of there, the only thing left here was more pain.

message 102: by [deleted user] (new)

Luna took his hand gratefully. She felt like she needed to be guided now. Her brain had broken into buzzes again, and her limbs felt like they were made of lead. As they ran she felt her feet start to drag and she tried to keep herself from sinking to the ground.

message 103: by [deleted user] (new)

It took him a moment to realize she was starting to slow down, feeling her weighing down a bit. He looked back to her, seeing the look on her face. Using her ability like that must have tired her out.
"Hold on." He stopped for half a second to gently lift her into his arms and continued to go.

message 104: by [deleted user] (new)

Luna's eyes started to droop but each time she would shake her head and keep going. But then she felt herself being scooped up, "oh.. ok - this is good too." she said faintly. " sss -sorry for being a drag." She whispered with a small smile before her eyes closed again and she couldn't stop them.

message 105: by [deleted user] (new)

Even not feeling good she managed to try to stay positive. A bit of a smile came to his face before he focused again. He looked up in time to see the exit just ahead, he quickened his pace. It was just there, before he got there though, alarms started sounding over head. He wasn't going to let anything stop him now. He narrowed his eyes slightly as he focused on the door, hearing footsteps behind them. The door shook and rattled before it flew open and he ran through it.

message 106: by [deleted user] (new)

Luna wasn't completely out. She felt London's arms holding her, his heartbeat. She had never felt this close to someone before, being a foster kid she never had the chance.

She felt the bust through what she assumed to be the exit, she wasn't nearly strong enough to run with him, but she felt bad for weighing him down.

"L-London? I can ... I can try to keep up on my own. I don't ... w-want to slow you down."

message 107: by [deleted user] (new)

"Don't worry." He told her trying to wrap around his head that they were actually outside now. But he shook it off he had to get as far away as he could right now. "I have you." He told her softly. "You just keep holding on to me." He gave her a reassuring smile. He hadn't ever had someone he wanted to protect so much. He never had siblings, and his parents...he stopped that thought and continued on.

message 108: by [deleted user] (new)

The sunlight was blinding, but was everything she remembered it to be. "Ok, partner." She whispered in his ear with a smile as she adjusted her arms around his neck for a better grip. She rested her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes again, trusting him to take care of her.

message 109: by [deleted user] (new)

Whispering in his ear, he felt something go through him. But he couldn't figure out what it was, all he knew was he had to find them a place to lay low for the night. And then they could figure it out when they were both rested up and alert. He made sure he stayed as much out of sight as he could. It was awhile before he finally found something, after taking a turn down a sort of dirt road that looked over grown, he quickly found something that looked like a tree house built on the ground. Though it looked as though it had been abandoned, it still was pretty sturdy and it was better then nothing.

message 110: by [deleted user] (new)

Luna had a pretty nice nap, and she was thankful for it. Her head was still lightly buzzing, but her eyes could focus again. She blinked and looked around them. A quaint little shed was in front of them.

"Well this is cute." She said turning to look up at London again. "Nice find." She wiggled her feet before asking to be let down. "I think I can handle standing now.... thank you for helping me."

message 111: by [deleted user] (new)

He stopped in front of it looking it over. He smiled when he finally heard her again, at least she seemed better then before.
"Oh...right." He leaned down a bit and put her gently back on her feet. "Glad you're okay." He told her and smiled before he looked back to the place.

Once Luna's feet were on the ground she stretched her arms and did a quick twirl to look around them. "How far away are we?" She asked him, bending down amd picking a dandelion. She used to pick these all the time, blow them to make wishes. Not that her wishes ever came true. She had always wished to be placed with someone who actually cared for her. She looked back up at London... maybe he's who I wished for. She thought with a smile as she looked up at him again.

message 113: by [deleted user] (new)

"I...think a few miles." He walked to the door and reached for the handle, gently pushing the door open. It opened with a small squeak and he tentatively took a step inside. There was a bit of an old smell and the place was a bit dusty. He looked around trying to see if he could find something to light the place up for them.

message 114: by [deleted user] (new)

Luna nodded and skipped in after him. As she crossed the threshold she sneezed, sending dust scattering around. "Well, I don't think anyones bin in here for a while... we should be safe." She waved a hand in front of her to clear the air a bit.

The room as humble. There was a wooden rocking chair with a small table next to it. A short stack of forgotten books and a candle sat on top of the table. In another corner a small bed with a comforter that had small stains and frayed edges.

Luna made her way to the table to check out a book.

message 115: by [deleted user] (new)

For now there was some enough light coming in through the window. At least for another few hours. He closed the door and started to search for matches to light the candle with.
"We should be fine for tonight." He nodded thoughtfully. He hadn't realized how tired he was until he slowed down. His wrist sort of stinging a bit, now the that he wasn't running on adrenaline.

message 116: by [deleted user] (new)

Luna examined London's body. "You carried me a long way" she commented picking up a book and blowing the dust off of it. "You must be tired. You can have the bed... I already had a nap." She said chipperly.

Adventures of Tom Sawyer she read. She took a seat in the rocking chair and put the book in her lap.

message 117: by [deleted user] (new)

He found a small dresser and opened the top drawer, thankful he didn't have to go through everything as he found a small box of matches. He set them near the candle.
"Thanks." He smiled and went over sitting on the edge of the bed. "Any good books there?"

message 118: by [deleted user] (new)

Luna held up the book in her lap and waved it in the air. "There's Tom Sawyer aaaand..." she said wiping the dust off of the other books. "Little women and Great Gatsby." Luna laughed "it's like high school reading list in here."

message 119: by [deleted user] (new)

He laughed slightly laying back against the bed.
"Now were only missing Hamlet and Fahrenheit 451 and well be golden." He smiled remembering all the books he read in high school, which seemed like a long time ago. "I don't think I've actually read anything in a long time."

message 120: by [deleted user] (new)

Luna leaned back and rocked in the chair. "Well you've got three fine choices right here if you want to read them." She said motioning to the books. "I wonder who left them here." she mused aloud.

message 121: by [deleted user] (new)

He glanced around the place once more thinking about it.
"Someone probably used this place to just be alone." He remembered having the same thing when he was younger, just going out and hiding until he felt he could face the world again. But then everything else started happening.

message 122: by [deleted user] (new)

Luna nodded, "that sound's like a good enough reason to me." She flipped open the book to page one. She glanced over at London, "you should get some sleep. We're gonna have stuff to do when you wake up." she said with a smile. "food... clothes.. shoes" she said leaning back and wiggling her toes in the air.

message 123: by [deleted user] (new)

"Right." He glanced down at his own feet, he had forgotten he wasn't wearing shoes either. But the hard part was going to be getting food. "Just wake me if you need something." He told her, he didn't want to be asleep and something happen. He would be able to think much better once he was rested.

message 124: by [deleted user] (new)

"Will do Partner." she said softly, turning back to the book. She crossed her legs in the chair underneath her and continued to read and rock.

***

As time passed, Luna's eyes drooped again and she began to sleep as well.

message 125: by [deleted user] (new)

It was a few hours later when he woke up, the room was dark by this point. He blinked for a moment forgetting where he was, then everything came back to him. He shook himself before he sat up in the bed, and stretched himself out. He stood and went over to the table, finding the matches and lighting one so he could light the candle. Once he did and there was a bit of light he saw her asleep in the chair and smiled softly. He went back over to the bed and took the blanket from it putting it over her. He made sure she was okay, before he started to search around a bit more.

message 126: by [deleted user] (new)

Luna felt something being placed over her and she curled up more in the chair, blanket enveloping her. It was a few more minutes before she jumped awake, almost slipping from the chair. She had had a nightmare of the Bad Guy again... stepping on his neck... breaking it. She shivered and stood up. She folded the blanket and looked over at London. "How was your nap?"

message 127: by [deleted user] (new)

He had been going through the draws of the dresser when he heard her. He turned just as he saw her stand up.
"Um...it was okay." It was definitely better then the beds they had to sleep on before. He at least felt rested up, even though having bad dreams of his own was something that happened on a regular basis. He wasn't use to it, he had just come to expect it. "You doing okay?"

message 128: by [deleted user] (new)

Luna walked over to the bed and put the blanket back down. "I had a nightmare... that's new for me." She looked at London and fidgeted with her hands in front of her. "The dream kept replaying me... killing... that guy. I can feel his neck under my foot London." She shivered again and looked at her feet.

"I... I didn't have to go that far. He was down, we could have just run..." she said in a small, defeated voice. She sat down on the bed and put her head in her hands. "I just need to forget about it." She muttered, mainly to herself.

message 129: by [deleted user] (new)

He abandoned what he was doing and sat beside her, putting his arm around her and gently pulling her into a hug.
"I know it probably doesn't help, trying to forget about it isn't easy." He took in a deep breath. "It'll only make it worse, trust me I know. "You didn't do anything but protect us. "We probably would be hurt or worse..."

message 130: by [deleted user] (new)

Luna did her best not to cry, but couldn't stop tears from rolling down her cheeks. "I know... I know. It was just... awful." She leaned her head into his chest, letting his warmth calm her. She closed her eyes and took a few calming breaths. "You're really good at calming me down London." She sniffled and moved her head to look up at him. "Thank you." She whispered with a smile before pulling away from his warmth.

She wiped her eyes and hopped up, putting a smile on her face. "So, food?"

message 131: by [deleted user] (new)

He really did understand how she felt, thinking back to the last time he couldn't control his ability it was worse then anything else. He felt a bit strange when she pulled away, like he wanted to keep her in his arms for just a bit longer. Just to make sure she really did feel better. At least he managed to help a bit.
"Right, food." He said as if he forget pushing himself to his feet. There had to be a way to get some food without having to knock over a place.

message 132: by [deleted user] (new)

Luna walked out of the room to find it was awfully dark outside. She reached for London's hand instinctively. "Maybe we could find a fast food place and go threw their trash. Im afraid of going into somewhere and them thinking somethings up based on what we're wearing." She whispered to him.

message 133: by [deleted user] (new)

He wasn't to keen on going into a crowded place, and being stared at like he was some kind of freak. But going through the garbage just to eat it wasn't ideal either. But then again, he knew a lot of fast food places had a throw out time.
"We might have to wait for a bit, but if wait until a places closes they usually have something that's intact." He explained to her. "Whatever they have left over usually gets tossed out."

message 134: by [deleted user] (new)

"Sounds good to me." Luna replied. "Hopefully a food place isn't too far away... it's awfully dark out." She wiggled her toes in the grass. "And we really need to get some shoes... we need to make sure we don't step on anything."

message 135: by [deleted user] (new)

The path they were on was pretty dark, but he could see just enough. He looked down at his feet and over to hers. After clothes he would find them some shoes, he was more worried about her getting her then he was with himself.
"I could carry you again." He offered, though half kidding.

message 136: by [deleted user] (new)

"As much as I would like that, I think I'm good. We would move faster if we both move ourselves" she laughed in response. She shuffled along as quickly as she could to make sure she didn't step on anything. "We just need to make sure we head away from the institute."

message 137: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 23, 2018 07:37PM) (new)

He just had to make sure they kept to softer places as they walked along. Keep to the grass as much as they possibly could. He thought about just using his ability on both of there feet, but it wasn't worth the headaches. He needed to be able to think clearly and be able to protect her if need be.
"So this is a random question." He decided he wanted to get to know her a bit better. "If you could just have any animal what would you choose?"

message 138: by [deleted user] (new)

Luna grinned. "Probably a bunny. they're so cute and fuzzy. I'd hate to keep it in a cage so would probably tie a balloon around it and let it hop all over the house. I wonder if you can potty train a bunny? I'd want a white rabbit so I could name it Alice - like Alice in wonderland." she rambled happily, letting her mind explore the possibilities of different pets she could have. She returned back to earth and asked, "what about you?"

message 139: by [deleted user] (new)

A smiled slowly came to his face as he listened to her talk about the bunny she would get. The happy tone in her voice was nice to hear, and he wished somehow he could get her one. He pulled himself from his own reverie.
"Oh uh..." He thought for a moment. "Um, I guess I would get a gecko. "I've always wanted either a leopard gecko or a green one, I think they are pretty cool."

message 140: by [deleted user] (new)

"Aw, geckos are cute! They would be a pretty cool pet. Maybe our pets can be best friends." she exclaimed with a smile. Picturing a bunny and gecko running around together was an amusing thought and Luna laughed a little.
"What would you name your gecko if you had one?"

message 141: by [deleted user] (new)

"Oh his name would be Gex." He had been thinking of it for a long time, since he was little. He knew he would never get one from his parents, so he had it all planed out. He had forgotten about it all until now, but he was glad he still remembered. "I think Alice and Gex would get along great." He agreed, smiling at the thought.

message 142: by [deleted user] (new)

Luna smiled up at him. "I'm glad you think so." They had cleared the covered dirt path and were at an actual paved road. Luna backed behind London a bit and did her best to look around. "London, how are we gonna find our way back?" She asked, her small voice shaking a bit as she stepped closer to him.

message 143: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 23, 2018 08:49PM) (new)

"I think I know how to get back." He assured her. He had always been good with remembering directions and landmarks. Even if he was unfamiliar with the place, all he had to do was retrace there steps. "I promise we'll be just fine." He gave her a small smile, before he glanced around seeing they were starting to come up to street lights and brighter lights, that sort of looked like signs, just a bit farther down the way.

message 144: by [deleted user] (new)

Luna started to walk to one of the illuminated signs. "It's one of those highway marker things.... food's 2 miles away." She said pointing off in front of them. Her stomach gurgled lightly, right on que. "I really hope they have stuff.. edible stuff." She said with a small sigh.

message 145: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 23, 2018 09:06PM) (new)

Two miles until food, he glanced over hearing her stomach growl. They could make it two more miles, anything edible would be nice for him at this point. His own stomach doing flips for food, though he hadn't heart it growl just yet.
"We aren't far, just have to think about something else for now." He said thoughtfully.

message 146: by [deleted user] (new)

Luna nodded. "This isn't the first time I've been hungry." she said more chipper than the statement really was. There were plenty of times at one of the foster homes she was in where they didn't have enough food to go around. Honestly, at the institute, she had felt spoiled. "We'll be there soon." she agreed hopefully.

message 147: by [deleted user] (new)

It wasn't his first time either, it was how he knew about the food that the places threw out after closing time. It hadn't been for long, a few weeks after the last incident, where he lost control. He told himself to stop thinking about that, right now he was in control and she was okay right now.

message 148: by [deleted user] (new)

((I'm gonna speed time if that's ok))

Luna and London had made it to the parking lot of a McDonalds, and there were a few other fast food places within sight. Luna anxiously ran her fingers threw her hair to try to look nicer less.. homely. "So... what do we do?" she whispered, looking up at London - blue eyes shining by the light of the lamp posts.

message 149: by [deleted user] (new)

((Alrighty.))

London looked around, trying to gauge the situation.
"We have to wait it out....somewhere." He looked around the parking lot trying to find a less conspicuous place they could wait for them to close. If they had no luck here, they could move on to the next place to try. "Over there." He nodded toward a bus bench, right in front of the place.

message 150: by [deleted user] (new)

((I forgot, they are still wearing nurse costumes - not the uniform))

Luna smoothed her clothes and began walking in the direction of the bench. "Isn't this going to be weird? Two people waiting in front of a McDonalds?" She asked looking around them cautiously, but trying to appear casual.
