message 1: by Clarissa (new)

Clarissa The Help was enjoyable from start to finish. It told a story from the perspective of a white woman named Skeeter who was a writer. In her struggle to find something interesting to write about, she came across the idea to write a book about the lives of the black women and their struggles. It was 1962 and at the time black women worked for the white families as their personal maids. They tended to the house and practically raised the white children, but in doing so they had many other problems. The book tells a story in a comedic way that also doesn’t lose sight of the struggles and racism of that time. It sent a strong message to the readers and opens the eyes of our current generation.

Leah I loved this book.
