Hana | 652 comments HaHa! I suspect Hyacinth wished her real last name was something like Bosanquet, pronounced no doubt, in what she would be sure to think was the true French fashion Beau-san-'kay :D

As for the real Bosanquets they might have been Huguenots who came over to Essex from the Languedoc and who knows how they really pronounced it! http://www.houseofnames.com/bosanquet...

Hana | 652 comments Which reminds me I want to read Saxons, Vikings, and Celts: The Genetic Roots of Britain and Ireland. Bryan Sykes is always an amusing and informative guide to the intersection of genetics and genealogy, this one--on his own much contended home turf--should be great fun.

Karlyne Landrum | 3895 comments It does sound like fun! Let us know if it actually is. (I can guarantee without looking that my library does not have it.)

Hana | 652 comments I will! I have very old family roots in England and Ireland that I've been trying to sort out with DNA analysis--you can't imagine how fascinating it is and how old and mysterious the stories must be!

Karlyne Landrum | 3895 comments I'm determined that there is Norwegian in my background, but so far haven't been able to trace it!
