Looking for a book that's driving me crazy, until I can remember it

I'm also looking for a book. I read it within the last 5 years, and I can't remember the name of it. The main things that I remember about the story is there was a misogynistic college professor who once created an alternative world, more misogynistic than even he was. In the start of the story, the professor somehow gets contacted by this world for help to fight a war. A female student, who comes to his office over a paper he had marked with some obvious bias, gets pulled into this world. She finds a world where women are treated as sub-human lifeforms who are only there for sex. Those they fight are a far more civilized society, that treat women as equals. By the end,the student shows the professor the errors of his ways.
I'm guessing the book was published sometime in the 1990s to around 2014ish. I can't remember the title of author's name.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Earthsearch doesn't resemble the description Pamela gave in the slightest.
