Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Yes it is Sarah.

@Siriusedward: I waited for a few days with my first book, but this one I opened almost immediately ;-) I like waiting and only opening when I actually start reading it, but it's hard!

This one was (view spoiler)

message 52: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I got an email yesterday that they sent my 4th book, and it just got delivered. That's insane! It's sent from either the UK or Sweden, how can it be here in a day? Unless they sent me the email about sending it way late, but they usually send it between the 4th and the 7th.

Anyway, I got one I had spotted on the website and am very curious about. I have the feeling I should know which book this is, but I think the first clue is maybe misleading me.

- Pet dodos
- Adventure
- Mystery
- Fantasy
- Funny

My plan was to read these books in the month I get them, but I'm starting to feel stressed out, lol. Not sure whether to leave it unpacked until I have the time to read it, or unpack it and see if it fits the ZZ challenge (but if it doesn't, it will probably end up on my shelves).

message 53: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18549 comments Intriguing Peggy. I think I know what it is as I own a book (that I've not read yet) that fits those keywords.

message 54: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I'm curious to see what that book is, Peggy. The pet dodos clue is throwing me a bit.

I've been debating whether to buy "Perilous Passion". A couple of the clues intrigue me (Tudor dynasty, Wars of the Roses, Historical Fiction) but I'm worried it might be a book by (view spoiler) and I'm not a big fan of her. Still, I suppose I could buy it and if it turns out I'm right, I guess I could always request another book.

message 55: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I opened it, another one I had on my wishlist! (view spoiler)

message 56: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18549 comments I guessed right!

message 57: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Cool! I guess there aren't that many books with pet dodos. I do wonder if (view spoiler)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments Peggy wrote: "Cool! I guess there aren't that many books with pet dodos. I do wonder if [spoilers removed]"

No. You don't. I read it years before reading the other. And I wish I had never read the other. It's not needed, there is so much about that book that you wouldn't realise you know already that this book will be fine.

I have thought I should go back and reread it now I have read the other to see. I don't want to ruin a good thing though.

We also are calling one of our chicks Pickwick now, as she doesn't make a normal chicken noise, she *plocks*. Like, that is the noise she makes, a soft "plock, plock, plock". This will make sense in time...

message 59: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Thanks Rus! I have the other book on my tbr as well but don't see myself picking it up anytime soon.

Okay, Pickwicks and plocking... I'm intrigued!

message 60: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I received my next book. It's thin, and the hints are:
- Cosy mysteries
- Africa
- Quirky detective
- Humour
- Charming

I think this can be only one book, (view spoiler) which I've read already. Unless you think this is probably something else, I'll leave it unpacked and maybe I can give it to someone.

I love this idea, especially that you get books sent to your home for 6 months, but it's a shame that of the 5 books I received, I read 2 already. Last time they sent me a new one, but I don't think that's their normal policy. Other than that they're doing a great job, because the books I hadn't read yet were all on my wishlist.

I looked at the books (well, the hints) before I signed up and there was only one I immediately recognized. I emailed them about it and they wouldn't send it to me. I think in the meantime though they've added some new books, and two of those are the ones I received but read already. If I just picked them myself from the website, I wouldn't have picked those.

It would be great if they could change this 6-month subscription a bit, so that you can for example send a link to your GR shelf with books you've read and books you own, and they check it beforehand. Or that you can exclude books based on the descriptions when you're pretty sure you've read it. It would make it a lot more work for the people who pick the books though..

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments I succumbed to temptation and bought the following two:

Ancient cult
India
Dark humanity
Fantasy
Psychological horror

Missing girls
Australia, 1900
Mystery
Eerie
Classic

Just praying I've not read them already!

message 62: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Exciting Debra!

If the clues don't ring a bell at all, you're probably fine :)

I've not read it either, but it sounds pretty interesting. There was a tv adaptation of it recently too. It was shown in the UK over the summer.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I decided to treat myself to another one of these. The clues are:

Reclusive Sorceress
Adventure
Mythical Creatures
Regal
Award Winning Fantasy

I actually have no clue as to what this could be, unless I am missing something painstakingly obvious. Which I probably am! Lol!

I was tempted by this one also, and am looking forward to reading what you think of it. Maybe you could peek at my bookshelf and let me know if I've already read it. But, it doesn't sound familiar based on the clues provided.

message 71: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Yes, I will take a look at your shelf to see if you've read it, Debra. I have only just ordered it so it probably won't arrive for a few days, but I will get back to you once it does.

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Lisa, when I looked through the books I was also intrigued by yours, but somehow felt like I must know what it is. I don't have a clue though.. I hope it will be my next book!

I contacted them to ask if they could exclude some books, which was not a problem. They also said they would send me two books next time (I didn't even mention I had one I already read this month), and that they would go more off the beaten track.

It does appear to be a polarising book. People seem to either love it or hate it. I will probably read it at some point as it does have me curious, but I'm not in any rush to get to it.

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I received my final blind date book:

- The forest
- Britain
- Mythology
- Time and space
- Monsters

Doesn't ring a bell, so hopefully I haven't read it yet. I'll leave it a surprise until I'm ready to start the monthly challenge. As that one has options for fantasy setting and UK setting, it seems likely that this book will work :)
