GAME- Alternative Top 100 list

Let's create our top 100 list of recommended books - of ANY books - one book at a time. Choose a book that you think is a great read, and one that you would recommend to other readers. Keep in mind that this is a subjective exercise. It's impossible to create a purely objective list based on quality, because any "best" list is based on opinions and different criteria. You might not agree with all the other choices, but that's OK. You might start with GAR books, or oft mentioned classics, but as we continue, let's seek to add a little cultural diversity and genre variety to the list.

RULES:
1. Each person can add just ONE book to the list.
2. You can choose any book that you recommend.
3. For each post, copy the preceding list. Number the list as we go.
4. You cannot take another turn until someone else posts, or 12 hours has past - whichever comes first.
5. To keep the posts short, do not hit "reply."

I'll start with a book I think is worthy of #1. The next person should add their #1 choice, and go down your list each time you take a turn.
