I've noticed that the Amazon link on the book's page on Goodreads often leads to lots of other books by the same title of the main book. Generally, the main book might actually be at the bottom of the page while other more popular books or sponsored books are near the top.
What this means is that whenever authors share their books here on GR, it's best to provide a direct link to Amazon. The direct Amazon link would be the best option. People can always find the book here on GR.
By not having a link going directly to the author's book, the author runs the risk of people viewing those books that are being promoted and not ever getting to the author's book. Plus, people like direct links, and if they are taken to a page where they don't immediately see the book, they might not bother to even scroll down the page.
You can click on the link from GR to Amazon for your books and see where that link leads people. In some cases, the link doesn't even work.
