There are at least 3 books in the series. The details are from the first.
Setting is in the 80's or 90's I think. Main character is in his home during a huge storm with his wife Crystal. They've been told to evacuate due to flood stage, but don't. A couple strangers show up wet at the door who've wrecked or the like and need help. At the height of the storm weirdness occurs and the house is transported through time/space to Scotland sitting next to a keep. Time frame is about the time guns were being created.. still a lot of muscle powered weaponry and soldiers wore armor. Even though they really are back in time, the house is still getting water and electricity.

A fellow transportee is a smart man/scientist...
Two semi truck drivers are also in range of the effect and are transported as well... I think one's name is Bud.
