Chain of Charms Series by Kate Forsyth

I have The Gypsy Crown by Kate Forsyth which is recorded on GR as the first book of the Chain of Charms series which it was indeed in its Australian edition. This American edition is an omnibus edition of the entire series, but it's combined with the Australian editions which are only the first book.

Clearly, I must separate it from the others, but judging from the number of pages it looks as if there are other editions that may be omnibus editions. Should I separate and combine those with the edition that I have?

It occurs to me that there are reviews of omnibus editions mixed with reviews of the first book in the series. So I'm not sure how to separate and combine correctly.

short answer: do your best.

long answer: only separate an edition if you are SURE it is an omnibus. don't just use the page number as an indicator, look up the ISBN of that edition on worldcat (if possible) or amazon (if it's not on worldcat).

as for the reviews, there's really nothing you can do about that. the reviews will segregate according to whatever edition the user shelved.

In that case, I can only separate the edition I have in hand because neither Worldcat nor Amazon provide evidence of any editions of this book being an omnibus edition in their descriptions. The reviews on Amazon make that distinction when it comes to my edition, but reviews aren't bibliographic information. I even looked at MARC records on the catalogs of libraries that hold these editions, and there were no notes about the differences in editions.

I have done further research and my edition is not in fact an omnibus edition. It was edited to remove the fourth book of the series, The Cat's Eye Shell. The author has a note called "The Facts Behind The Fiction" that was also edited to remove the fourth book. This is called publisher expurgation. If there are any omnibus editions, this one should not be combined with them.

Update: I wasn't allowed to separate my edition because it's the most popular one. Where can I put a note that one of the books is missing from that edition? The description is not the correct place because it applies to all editions.

If you can't separate the most popular, you have to separate all the other ones (use the separate tool, not the combine page).

Separate wasn't working for me. I tried separating all the editions except the most popular edition and it didn't complete. Then I thought of separating them one at a time, and that didn't work either.

Combine function is not working properly right now, so that may be causing your separation issue also.
