Shirin Ebadi’s memoir was moving, intelligent and powerful. On finishing the last page I reflected on how much Ebadi had shared and the many moments of raw emotion that made me feel connected to her. This openness was accompanied by much information on the wider political scene as well as on Iran - I ashamedly discovered how little I knew about the influence the Iranian authorities were able to have on the day-to-day lives of the people of Iran. Overall I was impressed with Ebadi’s ability to tell her personal story so emotively alongside a revealing commentary on Iran at the time.
What were the overall thoughts and impressions you took away from 'Until We Are Free'?
