Oooh just in time for the movie! I might join in... This one has been on my tbr list for a while and this is the perfect time to read it!
I'm super happy that this has been chosen as I've already started it. I started reading it before I went to London :)
Who is taking part this month? I got a bit of a head start as I'd started to listen to the audiobook last month but as I don't have time to listen to them often, I decided to switch to reading the physical book. I'm just over 200 pages in and I'm really enjoying it so far.

I'm new to the group, so I'm not sure if there is a set one for all the BOTM.
Hi Yare,
No there's no reading timetable. If you are participating in the group read as long as you read it within the month :)

Thanks for joining Heather.
I totally agree with all of your answers. I really enjoyed the whole book. I'm actually now about 30% into book 2.
What chapter/page/percentage is everyone up to so far?

Wow that's pretty far. Good going. Although it's quite a thick book (at least for me as most books I read are usually between 300-400 pages and this one is over 500) I found myself reading it really quickly. I couldn't put it down.

I'm about 23% into the book. ( I wanted to get farther a long this past weekend but my daughter is teething and it was a bad weekend for her.)

Oh! The joys of motherhood:) I remember those days. Sometimes, there is nothing that can satisfy them and you feel so helpless.
Who has been reading The Darkest Minds this month?
How far through the book are you?
We're almost halfway through the month, so would be nice to see a bit more discussion going on.
Remember, if you've taken part and added a discussion, you're up for a giveaway for an amazon GC or your choice of a book from The Book Depository.

Also, I hate Ruby for doing that to Liam in the end. She didn’t have to! What do you guys say?

I agree! I was so sad for Liam but I understand why she did it. She was trying to protect him because she loves him.
I also agree that it was a great book!
Glad you enjoyed. I really loved the movie. It’s a faithful adaptation. Really good.
I was angry with Ruby too but I’ve just finished reading the third book in the series and what a great ending.

Was the move really good? I was reading that it did not do the book justice?

I want to go see it, but when I see movies based on books I read I feel disappointed.

Hi all, thanks for taking part in The Darkest Minds read this month. It was a little quieter than usual but that's probably due to the amazing summer we've all been having.
The winner of the book/amazon giftcard is Yare. Well done. I will be adding this in the message that I will send around later. Let me know which you would prefer and I can get that sorted :)

I am so thrilled to say that 73 of your voted for the August book of the month. I am so happy so many of you get involved.
Well without further adieu, the August book of the month is...
When Ruby woke up on her tenth birthday, something about her had changed. Something frightening enough to make her parents lock her in the garage and call the police. Something that got her sent to Thurmond, a brutal government “rehabilitation camp.” She might have survived the mysterious disease that had killed most of America’s children, but she and the others emerged with something far worse: frightening abilities they could not control.
Now sixteen, Ruby is one of the dangerous ones. When the truth comes out, Ruby barely escapes Thurmond with her life. She is on the run, desperate to find the only safe haven left for kids like her—East River. She joins a group of kids who have escaped their own camp. Liam, their brave leader, is falling hard for Ruby. But no matter how much she aches for him, Ruby can’t risk getting close. Not after what happened to her parents. When they arrive at East River, nothing is as it seems, least of all its mysterious leader. But there are other forces at work, people who will stop at nothing to use Ruby in their fight against the government. Ruby will be faced with a terrible choice, one that may mean giving up her only chance at having a life worth living.
We will be starting this one on August 1st. Let me know if you're going to be joining in :)
