message 201: by [deleted user] (new)

Paris laughed. "Well noticed. And besides, I don't get into trouble. I'd need a boy to do that, and I don't think I want one right now." The last part was definitely said in a teasing tone, an offer of friendship.

The Full Bookshelf Reviews "I don't get into trouble," he said, "I don't like getting into trouble. I don't think it's fun. I don't why people think it is."

message 203: by [deleted user] (new)

Paris shrugged. "Well, tell you a secret: I don't like getting in trouble either. So let's get you cleaned up, yeah?" They were approaching the cobblestones, and Paris sat down on the edge of the walkway. She motioned for Hugo to sit down next to her. She passed him her handkerchief. "Use this to wipe down your feet, won't you?"

The Full Bookshelf Reviews Hugo took the hankercheif. "Thanks," he said, feeling extremely thankful that someone had been there with something that he could use. He smiled at her.

message 205: by [deleted user] (new)

"No problem," Paris answered, grinning. "Glad I could be of some use." She watched as her pristine handkerchief turned black with dirt. Seriously, how did boys get so dirty? She furrowed her brow. She was going to have to put that back in her pocket, wasn't she? What a disgusting thought.

The Full Bookshelf Reviews Oblivious, Hugo handed the hankercheif back to her. "Now, what are we going to do about my shoes and my robes?"

message 207: by [deleted user] (new)

"Uh, there's like a spell for that, right?" Paris bit her lip. She remembered hearing about it somewhere. "Haven't you like heard your grandma using a cleaning spell? She had to look after about a million-and-a-half kids." Paris frowned. "My mum generally preferred having the house elves do it."

The Full Bookshelf Reviews Hugo raised his eyebrow. "Um... well, there are 12 of us grandchildren, 13 if you count Teddy, when he was coming over all of the time, so I'm sure she used it at some point..."

((I'm pretty sure there is a spell for this, but I can't remember it.))

message 209: by [deleted user] (new)

((Scurgify, methinks -- check the spelling))

Paris's eyebrows shot up and she gaped. "Blimey! That's a lot!" She blushed and looked down, embarrassed by her outburst. "Sorry, it's just, I'm an only child. It just sounds so strange to have so many people everywhere at once."

The Full Bookshelf Reviews He smiled. "Yeah. There's Victoire, the Potions teacher, Dominique, Louis, Molly, Lucy, Fred, Roxanne, Rose, James, Al, Lily, and me. And Teddy. He and Victoire are dating now. And somehow I remember all of this of the top of my head."

message 211: by [deleted user] (new)

Paris chuckled, her eyes still impossibly wide. She'd be terrified to meet all of them, particularly all of them at once. She decided she was lucky to have such a nice, a nice, small family. "Wow. Just wow. There me, my parents, and my grandparents. That's it."

The Full Bookshelf Reviews "They're not bad, though. It's actually nice, knowing so many people love you. And, even better, they can't all be mad at you at one time." He chuckled quietly.

message 213: by [deleted user] (new)

"I thount you didn't give them cause to be mad at you?" she asked, thoroughly bewildered by how the family dynamics must be. As far as she was aware, a person could easily keep all his/her/their family happy all at once.

The Full Bookshelf Reviews "Yeah, I'm saving that for the future, just in case." He winked and continued to laugh, feeling considerably less shy.

((Oh, I read an ebook over the summer that had Ryan, who plays Hugo, on the cover. The main character, who was Ryan in the book trailer, had a sister in the book called Rose. And guess who narrated the audiobook? David Tennant.))

message 215: by [deleted user] (new)

((that is awesome))

Paris giggled. "Well, good luck with that. If you ever want peace and quiet, you can come over to my family's place." She grinned nervously. As most of her childhood friends had been muggles, she had never had friends over before especially since her family still had house elves as servants even if they were treated well.

The Full Bookshelf Reviews ((I loved the book, so maybe I'll listen to the audiobook eventually.))

"I've never known peace and quiet." He shrugged. "Sounds nice, though. My mum says that taking care of the 3 of us is like having three kids, even though it's just Rose and I. Dad can still be like a kid sometimes, too."

message 217: by [deleted user] (new)

((Cool))

Paris laughed. "I think my grandparents feel the same about both my parents sometimes. We still live with both sets, actually." She grinned at the camaraderie forming between them. She was wrong to have worried about not making friends here.

The Full Bookshelf Reviews "Really?" Hugo said. "I don't think we could still live with my dad's grandparents. At least Rose couldn't. She'd be in trouble all of the time there. And my mum's parents are Muggles, so we'd no doubt drive them mad."

message 219: by [deleted user] (new)

"My mum's parents are muggles too, but they live with us anyway. I think it's because my dad's pureblood and has this huge manor we wouldn't know what to do with otherwise. He was Slytherin, but he wasn't the stereotypical one, you know? He did marry a muggle-born," Paris explained, giggling at Hugo's description of his family.

The Full Bookshelf Reviews "Yeah, well, our family's a bit different. Happy and magical, but poor. Mum makes a good amount of Galleons, but, most of the time, magic is all we have. I don't think they would know what to do then. And both of my parents' jobs are magical, so they wouldn't go unnoticed in a Muggle community. They'd already be looking at us anyway, what with the ginger hair. That's what Muggles see first, then the magic." He grinned back.

message 221: by [deleted user] (new)

"I think our ancestors were crazily rich, and as there aren't many of us, we don't use most of it, and both my parents work, and my grandparents are struggling to manage the whole retiring thing. That equals absurd amounts of money. I guess if you ever need to buy something really badly . . ." She grimaced, not exactly what to say since he'd just claimed to be poor and she was rich.

The Full Bookshelf Reviews "You'll lend me money?" He smiled at her to assure her that his feelings were not hurt. "Seriously, I'm fine. I wouldn't take it from you, anyway."

message 223: by [deleted user] (new)

"Friends help friends out, right?" Paris asked. Again, she'd only ever had muggle friends before. She hoped wizards didn't do things differently. That would be sad. She smiled hesitantly.

The Full Bookshelf Reviews ((Haha! I made comment no. 222, and you posted 223 for a change! :D))

He smiled. "Yeah." He was surprised at how outgoing he felt around her. Like they had known each other forever.

message 225: by [deleted user] (new)

((I did not even notice))

Paris hadn't clicked with her other friends nearly so quickly. But this, this was so much easier and so much more natural than any of her earlier friendships. "So yeah. . . yeah." She grinned, turning slightly pink.

The Full Bookshelf Reviews ((Urgh, they're so cute I can't even take it!))

He smiled. "Yeah," he said once more, laughing.

message 227: by [deleted user] (new)

((They are adorable))

Paris didn't say yeah again instead skipping ahead straight to the laughing. It was a couple minutes before she was done, and she set her head down on Hugo's shoulder.

The Full Bookshelf Reviews Hugo was surprised by this, to say the least. The only females who had ever been affectionate with him were his mum, sister, grandmother, aunts, and female cousins. (Which really was a lot when you put it that way, but that wasn't the point.) He was also surprised by how he didn't feel embarrassed by it. In fact, he felt like he really had a friend. "Thank you for telling me you would let me borrow your money," he said quietly.

message 229: by [deleted user] (new)

Paris smiled nervously. "It's not a trouble," she replied, looking up at him without moving her head. "We have extra, and I'd want to help you if you need help, so . . ." She reached up and ruffled his red hair. The red was a cool color. She was a little jealous.

The Full Bookshelf Reviews He smiled. "That's nice of you. And if there was ever something I could help you with, I would want to help you, too." He was a bit surprised with himself when he said this. He just felt so comfortable with her.

message 231: by [deleted user] (new)

Paris nodded, still not removing her head from his shoulder. "Thanks." She reached up and ruffled his hair until it was somehow even more messy than it already had been -- which was pretty darn messy. The locks were a cool red. They definitely suited him well.

The Full Bookshelf Reviews "You're welcome," he said. "So this is what happens when two kids who don't get in trouble meet? We talk about helping one another?" He smiled.

message 233: by [deleted user] (new)

Paris grinned. "Apparently. Your sister is legendary around here for trouble-making. I'm guessing you got the good genes and she got the bad ones?" Her tone was teasing, and there was an amused glint in her hazel eyes.

The Full Bookshelf Reviews He grinned. "I think so. Or maybe I knew since I was a baby that my parents couldn't handle another one of her, and that I probably needed to tone it down a bit."

message 235: by [deleted user] (new)

Paris laughed. "Understandable." She smirked slightly. "Yeah, but with your cousins, that must be even more stressful. I don't envy you that large a house." She shuddered. "I'm good with dark, empty hallways, thanks."

The Full Bookshelf Reviews "Yeah, well I find dark empty hallways creepy," he said. "I can't be alone. I'm so used to having someone with me, I really don't think I could take it."

message 237: by [deleted user] (new)

"I'm the opposite. Not sure what I'd do without at least some alone time," she laughed. "And it's not like I don't spend time with my family. The weekend before I came here, my granny was teaching me how to knit. It was fun."

The Full Bookshelf Reviews Hugo smiled. Knitting. His own grandmother had tried to teach her granddaughters (and grandsons, when she was desperate,) normal household things like knitting, needlework, and baking, but, having children who fought in a war, they were much more interested in stories about that time she took down Bellatrix Lestrange. "That must have been nice. Quiet is good. Just not the dark. Even if I can't hear you, I would like to see you, please," he said. He had never considered any of this until now. The reason for that puzzled him.

message 239: by [deleted user] (new)

Paris had been pretty bad at knitting, but she wanted to learn so she had something more she could do with her beloved granny. Her grandparents didn't have particularly interesting stories to tell. While her parents had been at Hogwarts during the war, they'd been younger students and did not really have any stories about it to tell. That was okay, though. Paris didn't need her parents to be action heroes. She just wanted them to be them. She had her books. "It's peaceful in there, but there's a lot of things to discover -- nooks and secret passageways and everything!"

The Full Bookshelf Reviews Hugo didn't have the knack for exploring that his parents and sister had. If a secret passageway popped up right in front of him, he would probably walk right by it without even a curious glance. Mature, his parents said. Stick in the mud, his cousins and sister disagreed. Well, he thought to himself. Who doesn't like a little change every now and then? "Secret passageways, huh?" he asked, trying to seem brave. A sudden gust of wind came by and he ended up shivering.

message 241: by [deleted user] (new)

"Yep," Paris agreed. "Old buildings have a lot. Heard there's a few here, but probably nothing exciting." She sighed and shrugged. She knew she was rich and such. She'd explored anything not explicitly off-limits because boredom was a definite problem in her house. Her parents understood that and never got pissed at her for exploring. She figured it was teaching her self-reliance and stuff, so she kept at it. She knew a lot about the secrets of her house as a result of it.

The Full Bookshelf Reviews "I haven't done any exploring yet," he said. "Not to sound uncool or anything." He had already been blushing because of his shivering. Now he was the color of a lobster again.

message 243: by [deleted user] (new)

Paris shrugged. "I haven't here either. I've only done it back home where it's allowed. Isn't it against the rules?" She sighed and grabbed his hand. "At least I think we ought to head inside. I think the sun's about to set."

The Full Bookshelf Reviews Again, Paris had surprised him, this time with the hand holding. He squeezed her hand back. "Yeah, let's go," he said, slipping his shoes back on.

((Are we doing anything from here?))

message 245: by [deleted user] (new)

((Do you have any ideas right now?))

The Full Bookshelf Reviews ((Since I don't have any for immediately after this RP, maybe they could meet somewhere at some other time like Lux and Ivor, if that's okay with you.))

message 247: by [deleted user] (new)

((Okay. Only thing I've got is maybe she meets one of his cousins, but that should probably be later))

The Full Bookshelf Reviews ((Okay. All of them I have except for Roxanne are actually in use right now, I think.))

message 249: by [deleted user] (new)

((LOL okay then))
