Do they get notifications? Wow, that must be hard to deal with. I'd turn it off immediately. But then again, imagine famous people on places like Twitter. Their notifications must be blowing up all the time if they don't turn it off

I love talking to you lot on here, best book friends a girl could ask for!"
Totally agreed! I'm so happy that I've found this group and that I signed up for the challenge last year, before that I only participate in a few buddy reads, but was rather quiet because I was a little scared to make mistakes writing in english 😅 Well, I guess I'm past that now...

That's true! Also seing authors being active on goodreads, especially when they even take their time to join Q&A's made me want to reads their books even more, because it made them seem so really sympathetic!

I graduated college in 2009... that's basically when I stopped using Facebook... because it's exactly like you said, it's used for school stuff... especially back then... I'm kinda glad it was more localized, back then... towards the end of my time, I think high schools were on there, but it wasn't quite EVERYONE yet... so I wouldn't be using it for school and have to deal with family...

I downloaded Messenger once, earlier this year, because I couldn't get a message to load in the browser correctly, and I needed the info... I deleted that app within 24hrs, once I got what I needed... NOPE...

I can't believe how much Janny Wurts interacts with us... kinda wish I had the time to physically read all the War of Light and Shadow books this year, but it didn't work out... and here she is, still doing Q&As 9 months later...

They've gotta be able to disable that, like we can disable other things, right?

I'd be up for scheduling it next year. We could do a conservative schedule like Malazan.

Isn't there a Buddy Read already planned? Because I saw it on Bea's tracker and thought about joining as well... But maybe I messed things up in my head 😅

Lesson #1: English is weird... rules are meant to be broken...
I saw an old article yesterday that explained the vowel rules for phrases like ding dong, King Kong, chit chat, etc... "ablaut reduplication"
Another is the implicit order of noun descriptors:
And the third is how phrases tend to use the vowels I-A-O in that order, over other orders, in the English language... like Big Bad Wolf...

I love stuff like that about English. There's so much that we just know without knowing we know!

I feel bad for the green great dragons, that will never be allowed to exist😂
But I don't think that's something only true in english, in german I would also never list the colour before the size... Would sound wrong somehow...
Probably comes down to Linguistic Ancestry... don't all languages stem from 3-4 base languages like Latin?... So any language that is a "cousin" is going to have similar rules...

Proto-Indo-European is the common ancestor.
Language is so interesting, seriously. :D
English and German are both "Germanic" languages. But English also took a lot from "romance" languages which came from Latin.

Wooooot! It's so good to get to know everyone a bit better + the 😍😍😍 community pet gallery has really boosted the festive spirit round here...I actually logged in for a little while day before yesterday (quietly) just to see everybody's posts.
ALL THE BEST, everyone for next year.
EDIT I will now bomb ALL the team threads...😃 and exercise the "siscouraging" privileges of being

You'll be added to HoC. Stop by our thread and do an intro. Welcome back.

Same here. Though for me the reviews are long but yeah, I totally agree. It takes a certain courage and mentality for authors to brave themselves to interact with people on Goodreads. They get notifications daily! "someone rated 1 star" " someone rated 2 star" and so on, can you imagine that!?
