I really love what added to this chapter in the 2nd edition. The scene where she is in her mom's room and is attacked by an unknown force really sucks you into the future danger she may encounter.

I also love the creepiness of the owl scene. I added over 10k words to the first 5 chapters in the 2nd edition really enriching the story and relationships.

Yeah the scene in her mom's room is good esp before she is attacked. How its not just sadness looking at her mom's stuff but also some happy stuff. Something that took her a long time to get her too that point

Lousia I added that scene because of reader feedback on reviews from the 1st edition stating that they felt the beginning was a bit "slow". I addressed that as much as I could while adding to the story and suspense.
