David MacKay | 2 comments Hello,

I am seeking a beta read/critique swap, starting with two chapters.

I have written a self-help book designed to be a "life course" for those who wish to create happier, more meaningful, and more fulfilling lives. I use popular Hollywood films to illustrate what I consider to be 15 critical "life principles" that address fundamental philosophical questions, including those about who we are, the meaning of life, and our individual life purpose. The first two chapters specifically highlight the films "The Truman Show" (1998) and "Troy" (2004) as they relate to the issues of personal authenticity and managing our egos, respectively. The book is a detailed analysis of each film, combining mainly spirituality (not religion) and psychology. About 23,000 words total.

Please note: it's important to have seen the films first. If you haven't seen these particular films, I have chapters that feature the following movies: "Forrest Gump", "It's a Wonderful Life", "Groundhog Day", "Chocolat", "Vanilla Sky", "Pay It Forward", "Dances with Wolves", "It Could Happen to You", "House of Sand and Fog", Willy Wonka and the Chocoalte Factory" (1971), "October Sky", "Mr. Holland's Opus", and "The Game" (1997).

We can start with two chapters, but I'm willing to do an exchange involving more. Please feel free to send me a private message.

Thank you
David
