I was inspired to write this novel as I noticed similarities between President Trump and Turkish President Erdogan. I was living in Istanbul during the Gezi Park protests and much of the beginning of my book closely mirrors what happened in Turkey at that time. The rest of the book is inspired by events and personal stories of people from Turkey and the USA, as well as other countries, including Nicaragua. The hope for my book is for people to better understand the individual repercussions of silencing free speech and media.
"Censored" (by Caroline Bobick) is now available on Amazon. I hope many of you can check it out and pass along to any English or Social Studies teachers you may know. I would love to get this in the hands of students!
