E.T. (etmilliganbooks) | 3 comments Hi ,
I am new to this group. I'm looking forward to engaging with all of you other indie authors. This is my new release Past The Line, #1 in my three-book series called The Blake Cutter Detective Series. Here's a short synopsis of the first book:
A decorated Miami police detective named Blake Cutter is on the trail of one of Miami's largest underworld syndicates, until his wife is killed in a car bomb intended for him. While reassigned to Bullet, Georgia to recover from the tragedy, he joins the State Bureau of Investigation and becomes a federal agent. Soon, he is tasked to investigate an unrelated murder of a prominent real estate investor who disappears from a yacht cruise and is discovered washed up on a shore. He then encounters a woman who is the spitting image of his late wife. She becomes one of several suspects with a motive and opportunity in both cases, drawing Cutter into a tangled web of intrigue and deceit.

Christopher Finn (christopherjfinn) Hi everyone,
Here's a link to my debut novel, Dorothy and the Glass Key

Dorothy and the Glass Key is a surrealism-fantasy novel that frames a teen's desire to escape the harsh realities of personal and family trauma into physical, surrealistic realms.

My latest release, “Monty and the Monster,” is a middle-grade adventure about a boy trying to make sense of life when he’s uprooted for the fourth time in two years since his mother’s death. His scientist dad only cares about work these days and his older brother barely acknowledges him anymore. So no one is more surprised than Monty when his secret friendship with a real-life monster sets a harrowing journey in motion that brings his family closer together.

Aidan Nally | 5 comments Hi folks,
I am releasing a new book on October tenth 2019
Thats 10/10 so that there can be no mistakes 😊

Layman's Handbook, in life. Simple tools to change how we live, (a journey to SELF)
The book is self help in the simple, the easy and the natural talk that we all understand.
Following on from my memoirs TWO sons TOO many, 17 & Life.
I wanted to share some insight with others of how we can begin again. How life may be difficult and even a struggle some of the time. There are ways to change suffering in silence to contentment in company. From privately crying to laughing out loud among friends.
I am fully aware of hardships and life changes for the worse. I am fully aware of life changes for the better.

When I was in a very down and dark place in life, I could not find that one Handbook. I did not have a manual for any of it. When the book you need does not exist, then you must write it. And so born and going live on amazon on 10/10/2019.

Available ke in ebook preorder & paperback.

I hope you will join me for some shares and Retweets on 10/10 to buzz up the new book going live. There will be giveaways throughout the day.

Chris Bostic (chrisbostic) | 11 comments My newest series is live with Book 1, Whiskey Thief, and you won't be waiting long for the sequels. Look for Book 2 on Oct. 18th, and the finale on Nov. 1st.

This project was a true labor of love for me. After several vacations and countless distillery tours, I've finally completed an entire series set in the heart of Kentucky bourbon country. It's a blend of psychological thriller and romantic suspense.

Here's the blurb for Whiskey Thief:

When their Kentucky bourbon tour takes a turn for the worse, two engaged couples join up with strangers to seek shelter in the ruins of an old distillery. Grace encounters more than abandoned spirits on the decaying property, bringing her semi-comfortable world crashing down.

Tensions pull at the group, splintering the couples into teams. Only it’s hard for Grace to know what side to be on when bonds are tested, and opposites no longer attract. Questions abound. Who really are the strangers they paired up with? Should she break convenient bonds for a risky one? Then again, does it even matter if they don’t make it out alive?

Please be advised – The Bourbon Country Series features fast-paced adult psychological thrillers where sexual assault, PTSD, self-blame, and functional alcoholism combine to form a potent blend. Recommended for mature audiences, ages 18+

Available in ebook and paperback.

Trailer: https://youtu.be/whyjMeswIwc

Maybe his ideal type isn't what he is looking for! Fed up with dating apps and one-night stands Lewis Fraser is looking for the one.

When eccentric and socially awkward Christopher Wright is placed in his office, there is an instant attraction but unfortunately it seems one-sided.

No matter what tactics Lewis uses to distract himself, one glance from Christopher sets his heart uncontrollably racing all over again.

Fear, poor communication and stigma. Lewis can barely hold the threads of a friendship together with Christopher. Surely the hope of a relationship is an insane delusion.

bill (bmorgens) | 38 comments The Crazy Life of a Kid from Brooklyn
Hello friends
HERE IS MY OCTOBER NEWSLETTER
I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT

"This chapter from my book is from 1953 when Sylvia and I were attending the University of Alabama. We had been married in Birmingham in June of 1952.
We decided to ease the imposition of our parents supporting us, and we decided to open up a business. Jack, was our good friend from Atlanta. (Just a side note: In the mid 50’s the population of Atlanta and Birmingham was close to the same. The Birmingham airport authority placed a high tax on plane landings while the Atlanta airport reduced their taxes. Of course the rest is history. Atlanta swelled and Birmingham remained stagnant.) Anyway, Jack had just become the youngest CPA in Georgia’s history and he came on to become a silent partner and help us with the details of setting up a new company. Jack and Gladys were recently married and Gladys who is a sweetheart of a woman is still carrying on strongly to this day. Jackl arrived on a brutally hot night. Of course we had no air conditioning and discovered that instead of lying on the couch Jack was sound asleep in the bathtub. Afraid he might drown we immediately woke the poor guy up. Now it turns out that the big problem was that we were planning to open up a telephone answering service. In order to do that the extension system and paired lines had to be within a short distance of the Bell South (or maybe it was called Southern Bell) phone company. The manager of the ATT office was a man by the name of Mr. Plant (no joke). He was not at all cooperative, the reason being that he wanted to open up a telephone answering system himself. He insisted that the location would have to be within a ¼ mile of the phone company on University Avenue and there was nothing available that he knew of. We left his office and stopped for a bite at Pete’s restaurant. Until Pete’s closed, it was a landmark for students for many years. We met with Pete and told him of our dilemma. Pete smiled and said that he had great news for us. He owned apartments in the back of the store and that the third floor was vacant and it was just yards from the phone company building. Pete had a simple lease form which we signed forthwith. We ran to Mr. Plant who was obviously irritated and not at all happy. (What happened to Southern hospitality?) He very reluctantly agreed to install the extensions that we needed but it was apparent that he wanted this for himself and made sure that we were constantly harassed by the phone company. One of our customers was an American Indian couple who equally hated the phone company. One night they invited Syl and me for dinner. The portions were enormous as they were pretty large people themselves. They had extra freezers for food in the back of their house. Imagine steamed potatoes piled a couple of feet high, with tremendous steaks and for dessert we had one half gallon buckets of ice cream for each one of us. They finished theirs but we didn’t, although I came close. Anyway we agreed that the only revenge that we could impose, since lawsuits were not in vogue in those days, was that we would each bring wheelbarrows that were loaded with pennies in which to paid the bill. The law at the time was that you couldn’t refuse legal currency when offered. When the phone company objected we reminded them of this and took great glee when they had to count out the pennies. We enjoyed watching the chaos as extra young ladies were brought from the back to help with the counting. I am pretty sure that we heard the muffled voice of Mr. Plant growling in the background. Being new to the business world we were not very sophisticated in vetting our employees. Our training program was mostly verbal and lasted a couple of hours and since we had a night shift we put up signs in order to help guide the operators on how the phones should be answered. One sign for example read: “Good morning this is Dr. Kronkite’s office. How may we help you?” One of the operators was on duty at 11:00 PM and when she received calls she would say “Good Morning”. When we questioned her she responded that was what it said on the card. We had another young man who turned out to be insane. He sadly ended up at Bryce Mental hospital in Tuscaloosa. Besides cursing some of the callers he was making obscene calls to nurses in the local hospital. We visited him in the hospital and we felt sorry for him. Johnny apologized profusely, saying that he was sorry. He appeared calm, spoke normally but when he asked us when he could come back to work we left the hospital quickly, shaking our heads as we left the hospital. As the proud owners of Prompt Answering Service we did some local advertising and had a folded brochure made stating that Phone answering was done by direct extension; “when your phone rings your extension line rings in our office. We file the name and phone number of each call to you and keep them on file for your future reference. We can also sell for you, locate you in emergencies, take messages, accept credit applications and dispatch your servicemen. All at a price that you won’t believe.” We also had a wake up service which had me waking up in the middle of the night making phone calls. This went on for a number of months but between the phone company harassing us and the fact that we had a hard time collecting our monthly fees from those that were friendly but apparently in bad financial shape, we had to close Prompt Answering Service. That was the name of our operation. It was sometimes fun while it lasted and we certainly got an education in business and human nature. So as I indicated before if the Southern Bell harassment had happened some years later and we had gotten a hold of a fine attorney this would have been a different story. We probably could have sued them for millions and collected. We also heard later on that Mr. Plant had opened up a telephone answering service of his own and that he was doing quite well with it."

As always I am open for a 10 minute (no charge of course) consult on the following topics:
