I listened to the audio book for Nevernight. It made it much better and more fun to read. I’m on Godsgrave but not sure about the new narrator since they changed people.

He was upset that Mia didn't have nightmares for him to feed on, so he made it look like Mia killed Lotti so she would be punished and he could have her fear that way. I've heard the audio makes it more confusing. How are the footnotes read in the audio Nancy? It's too complex a book for me to do on audio.

Yeah overall I liked the story and the further you get, the less footnotes there are.

It will get better. If you read it, you can completly ignore the footnotes. They only contain background information about the world and people, like the bishop who ruled 500 years ago or such :D
But stick to it, it will get better :)

I have a theory about Tric. Obviously I don’t think he is dead because like you guys said, no body = no death. I think he is the narrator because in the Dicta Ultima and Caveat Emptor, he refers to Mia as Pale Daughter. Tric is literally the only character we know that calls her that! I've read up now to chapter 4:
(view spoiler)[I enjoy the back and forth between the past and the present. Maybe it's to make certain things clear on how Mia became the person she is in the present. It seems that cats are playing a significant role so far? Captain Puddles was so brave! It's interesting that the shadow that accompanies Mia is a cat like creature. Maybe it's the ghost/shadow of Captain Puddles? The foot notes are a little distracting, but the humouristic style makes it up. I wonder who the storyteller is. The book makes me think a lot about the Throne of Glass - series. (hide spoiler)]
