This was a horror book in the form of playing cards, and could be read in any order. Each card had a small, usually very descriptive paragraph or so on it. Face cards had images, such as a tiny body floating in a jar. The only card I remember clearly said something about it being pickling season, another mentioned a fire in a forest. I'm not sure when it came out, but I believe it was within the last fifteen years or so. I encountered it two years ago. I believe it also won or was a finalist for some big award, either an SF, fantasy award or horror.
