T. Bilderback (tmbilderback) | 2 comments I've been interested in publishing to Google Play, but I don't have time to jump through all of the hoops for it.

Smashwords doesn't do it, and Draft2Digital doesn't publish there. Is there anyone like them that DOES publish to Google Play?

Thanks!

Michael (T. M. Bilderback)

Mercia McMahon (merciamcmahon) eBook Partnership they charge an an annual fee but take nothing off your remaining royalties so you use them for others as well including Amazon.

D.M. (dmyates) I publish to Google Play and Google Books by myself. Both are free but awkward to set up.

D.M. (dmyates) Nada. Not one. Nope. Try searching for my books and they don't come up but I won't give up. Basically, pay for google ads and you'll show up. I'm so rebellious so right now I refuse to pay so my books are there but no sales. I haven't figured out how to adv for Google Play for my books. If you use google search engine my 'Always' shows up 8th in line. Amazon first, even reviews before google books. BUT - I believe any positive publicity and every outlet is a step forward for us authors. I will say something else here. If you belong to both Goodreads and G+ when you review on Goodreads it automatically puts that review on google so my 10 Goodreads reviews also show up on my google page.

T. Bilderback (tmbilderback) | 2 comments Wow. Thanks to all of you for responding. Sounds to me like Google Play is a waste of time anyway.

I hope not. Goodreads has had a lot of battles with google over reviews showing on a Google Play book page (versus showing partially in the google search engine) when a member here has not opted in to share reviews with third party sites.

(Goodreads reviews are only supposed to show on other sites if on your profile you allow third party sites who subscribe to that goodreads program to get your review, you sync an account via the API, or you click the facebook/twitter/g+ share when posting a review. Just being a member of g+ should not be putting reviews on a google Play.)

D.M. (dmyates) I agree, D.A. Yet they have. I wrote google and told them to take them down and they said they couldn't take down reviews. I didn't pursue it, but maybe by now goodreads has won the argument.

Not being able to take down reviews is a bullshit answer; if you had gone to google play and written a review manually then you would be able to remove it. If positive you don't have share-with-third-parties selected in your profile, I'd email goodreads about it and do a DCMA takedown notice to google because your review on goodreads is copyrighted to you. Don't hold your breath and persist because both seem to take an attitude of ignore-them-they'll-go-away.

That's one thing I was hoping from the amazon buyout -- that maybe amazon might be interested in preventing google play from using the reviews of goodreads members who do not give them permission to do so.

D.M. (dmyates) I thought about writing goodreads but let it go, deciding that reviews (these are from others on my books) would only make more pr for me. As for my reviews, I eventually selected the connection for the same reason - more publicity for that author, if that author is on google play/read.
One less fight on the internet. lol
As for Amazon, with all their latest - asking authors and readers to write Hatchett, I think Amazon is out for Amazon only and we're just pawns in their 'world-domination' game.
